Scottish Power
My current energy deal with Eon is due to come to an end in September. I have done a market comparison and the cheapest deal is with Scottish Power. I have been very impressed with Eon's customer service and wondered what Scottish Power are like in comparison and if people would recommend this company?

Glad we've looked after you Poppy15. I've just posted some information on another thread that might be of interest. It's about the Price Protection Window and how this keeps you on the same prices whilst switching supplier when the window's open. Also no exit fees. It's at the following link.

Sorry you're leaving Poppy15 but hope this helps.

Not had any real issues with SP other than them overestimating the usage for years. Now we can provide regular meter readings which solved the problem and we have a nice cushion of creditFirst they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
SP have a history of billing and customer service problems since a botched software upgrade, check for customer comments on this site before making up your mind0

I really couldn't recommend Scottish Power on the customer service front. If your looking for excellent customer service, from a 'Big Six' supplier - then E.ON (#1) and perhaps EDF rule the roost, from my experience.
Scottish Power outsource the majority of there back-office work overseas, and the majority of there UK front-line agents work are again outsourced. However, if your account switches successfully, and you never need to contact SP, then you may very well do well by choosing the lowest tariff. If something goes wrong, or you have a complex metering or technical query, we'll good luck
Otherwise, you could consider a boutique new challenger energy provider, which typically have better service than some of the big six providers.
Note: I don't work or have relatives working for any big six energy firmThank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -

Recent MSE survey. 50% describe Scottish Power customer service as "poor". Other "big 6" - British Gas 31%, Npower 58%, SSE 19%, Eon and EDF 13%. Lots of smaller providers covered as well.
My experience of Scottish Power was worse than poor.0 -

Thanks for the kind comments macfamilyent. They're appreciated. I'll pass them on.

I was going to say they aren't too bad at the moment., then I spotted this
"Scottish Power outsource the majority of there back-office work overseas, and the majority of there UK front-line agents work are again outsourced. Can't believe I forgot about this. I prefer to run my account online yet whenever I have a query the advisor not only can't understand me but I can't udnerstand them. They !!!! things up then I have to tell then what they have done wrong, how to put it right, and what I was originally asking for.
If everything goes smoothly they can be cheap ish but you need to know what you are doing, provide their own meter readings and be prepared to go to the ombudsmen if anything goes wrong as they generally start chucking credits at you then to make you be quietMixed Martial Arts is the greatest sport known to mankind and anyone who says it is 'a bar room brawl' has never trained in it and has no idea what they are talking about.0
