Changed supplier; old supplier still charging me

I've recently moved to GB Energy electric, for a better price. My old supplier made a transfer into my bank account, which I took to be them paying over what they owed me, and sent me a 'sorry you're leaving' letter. I gave the new supplier my opening meter reading and they've started billing me. I've just noticed that they my old supplier are still taking their monthly direct debit, though.
Am I right in thinking this is just a mistake on behalf of the old supplier, or could there be something more complicated? I'll call them tomorrow, but wanted to check where I stand.

Have you had an actual 'Final Bill' from the previous supplier?
This would have shown a Credit or Debit balance on the account - A mysterious credit being returned to your bank is not enough, you need that Final Bill so get on to them.0
