Switching time/EON MSE Collective deal?
Comments
-
Hi there I have read the other posts re:MSE EON collective switch coming to an end and no 'new' MSE deals on the horizon. So how long can we wait if we want to DIY? How long does the process take as I'm not sure we can wait for MSE much longer?
Thanks.
Maybe not until September?
:money: is not working for the whole of August.

I've actually switched 4 or 5 times after the MSE EON Sept. 2015 deal; always within EON so I avoided any exit charges. I've ended up on the MSM EON deal March 2016 which is saving me £300 more than that MSE Sept 2015 deal.:T
Unfortunately since then ,no deal saved me more unless I was prepared to pay exit charges which wiped out the savings.:( (and wanted to go to NPower )
The way I'm currently looking at it, is that lower costs next Winter will outweigh any savings which might be made by an early move to a fix before March, especially if the exit fees apply.0 -

Hello utigers. Just a quick heads up.
You don't need to wait until the last minute to start a switch. Provided you're in the Price Protection Window, you can start a switch now and avoid a price increase and exit fees. This window kicks in when fixed term contracts like the MSE one you mention near the end.
The window's open 49 calendar days before the tariff ends until 20 working days after. During this time and provided we're told, we'll make sure you're protected against any price changes that aren't in your favour whilst a change of supplier goes through. Switching usually takes about two and half weeks. Also, exit fees don't apply whilst this window is open.
Hope this is useful utigers.

MSE advises contract ends end October 2016 yet E-on have advised contract ends end September 2016.
Are there 2 deals that end consecutive months?0 -
Hi Treasure2011,
The tariff end date on Cheap Energy Club is just an estimate (your supplier doesn't share the exact date with us), so the one on your bill as stated by E.On should be accurate. To update your tariff end date in your Cheap Energy Club account, just log into your account and follow these instructions:
• On the Welcome Back homepage, scroll down to Current Tariff Details,
• Click on Edit Details and then you will be able to update your usage, as well as, your supplier, tariff and tariff end date
Thanks,
MSE Laura0 -

Morning Treasure2011.
As MSE Laura says, you'll be able to see the end date for the tariff on your bills (usually on the second page). Thanks Laura. Also, if you've registered with our website, it'll be on the right of the first page when you log in. It'll also be in the Welcome Pack/tariff change letter/email sent when you first went on to the tariff.
Hope this helps.

What do you mean I can avoid a price increase? I can avoid price changes not in my favour?
On my EON account it has given me 3 quotes, all of which have significant price increases of 27% upwards!
Please advise me on my alternatives.0 -

You can avoid a price increase, price changes not in your favour and exit fees whilst changing supplier during this window "The window's open 49 calendar days before the tariff ends until 20 working days after."
E.On has given you 3 quotes for their tariffs currently available. They will automatically put you on to their standard tariff, E.on Energy Plan (unless advised otherwise,) once your current tariff ends in September.
You can DIY by comparing your current tariff with comparison sites such as CEC, now (presumably you're now within that window?)
You can also stay on your current tariff until it ends, (when you will revert to the standard tariff, E.on Energy Plan, if you don't do anything,) and then switch and / or wait for the "collectives" i provided the links for, which won't be available until October. Even then, there's no guarantee which companies will win the auction or that the price will compare with the deals we've seen recently.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2016/07/07/brexit-pushes-uk-energy-prices-towards-nine-month-highs/8 JULY 2016 • 12:01AM
UK energy prices climbed to near nine-month highs in the aftermath of the EU referendum as the market began to anticipate winter blackouts.
The UK’s gas and power markets have been rocked in recent months by heavy infrastructure maintenance, unplanned shutdowns and political turmoil, leading to the most volatile quarter of trading in the last two years and a stark break from the market’s steady decline since 2013.
Market experts at ICIS said the price of gas climbed 29pc over the second quarter while wholesale electricity prices rose 25pc. The energy market’s second-quarter rally received a further boost from the UK’s vote to leave the European Union, the analysts added.
As it says in the quote, prices have risen / are rising? No one can predict for sure. It's a lottery.
In actual fact, E.on's current tariffs have been available for some time now, (around 6 months.) E.on energy fixed 1 year V19 was only available for a short time before their current V20 tariff.
Hope this helps
