Switching time/EON MSE Collective deal?
Comments
-
What do you mean I can avoid a price increase? I can avoid price changes not in my favour?
On my EON account it has given me 3 quotes, all of which have significant price increases of 27% upwards!
Please advise me on my alternatives.
Sorry I wasn't clear before utigers. The Price Protection Window applies when changing supplier. Fredandwilma has explained this very well. Thanks fredandwilma. To confirm, if you switch supplier within this window (open 49 calendar days before your tariff ends until 20 working days after), you'll stay on the same prices as now and won't have an exit fee.
The account needs to be applied for by your chosen supplier during this period. If we don't hear anything from you or another supplier asking to take over the account, you'll stay on your current MSE tariff until the end date. After this, you'll go on to our standard Energy Plan.
As fredandwilma say, the tariffs we currently have available are on our website.
Hope this clarifies things utigers. Let me know if you need more details or if still unclear. Always happy to help.

E.On has given you 3 quotes for their tariffs currently available. They will automatically put you on to their standard tariff, E.on Energy Plan (unless advised otherwise,) once your current tariff ends in September.
You can DIY by comparing your current tariff with comparison sites such as CEC, now (presumably you're now within that window?)
You can also stay on your current tariff until it ends, (when you will revert to the standard tariff, E.on Energy Plan, if you don't do anything,) and then switch and / or wait for the "collectives" i provided the links for, which won't be available until October. Even then, there's no guarantee which companies will win the auction or that the price will compare with the deals we've seen recently.

As it says in the quote, prices have risen / are rising? No one can predict for sure. It's a lottery.
In actual fact, E.on's current tariffs have been available for some time now, (around 6 months.) E.on energy fixed 1 year V19 was only available for a short time before their current V20 tariff.
Hope this helps

I have dual fuel under the MSE collective ending early October, trouble is they don't end same time as one was slower completing the change from our previous supplier.
If I want to switch suppliers, which date does my 49 day window back count open from for a duel fuel switch, the first (electric) or the later second (gas)?0 -
Afternoon harz99.
In this situation, you'll receive separate renewal letters. First for the electric and then for the gas. There won't be a Dual Fuel renewal date because, as each fuel is on a 12 month contract, the end dates will be different. As such, price protection will be applied separately for each fuel based on the original start dates.
Hope this explains harz99. Let me know if you need any more details as happy to help.

So as I got the electric email today, I'll have to wait until I get the gas one, which should be 3 days later, to start a dual fuel switch to a new provider then?0 -
@harz99
If you wish to swap as a dual fuel then you will need to wait until the Gas supply contract end date is within the next 49 days (as Eon have to send out the email/letter within the last 49 to 42 days of the individual fuel's contract end date). If you don't receive the email by the 42nd day from the end then you can swap without the email regardless.
However you may find that currently the best deals are to be had by going for different gas and electricity suppliers. It is for me and has been for all of this year if not longer. Just check all your options on the comparison websites, don't limit yourself to only dual fuel deals.0 -

Morning harz99.
Glad you've received the first email. For a Dual Fuel switch, best to wait for the gas email particularly as there's only a 3 day difference. As gsmlnx says, if you're going to switch fuels individually, you can start to move the electricity now.
Just to confirm, provided you start a switch within the Price Protection window (open 49 calendar days before your tariff ends until 20 working days after), you'll stay on the same prices as now and won't have an exit fee. This is regardless of when you receive the email although these are automatically triggered once tariffs reach a certain date.
Hope this explains harz99. Let me know of you need anything else as happy to help.
