Scottish Power really is the pits....
This company really shouldn't be in business. Changed from Oct 15 to Jan 16 fix and I am nearly £300 in credit. Monthly DD was increased from £30 to £94 even though I am in credit and the new tariff should mean I'm paying less. I send regular meter readings, so no estimates. Sent an email to a muppet in India who says it…

Gas Meter - What is One Unit?
This may sound a silly question, but how do you calculate one unit of gas? Is it the black dial gauge readings? For example my gas meter is displaying 931, so does that represent 931 units?

British Gas Bill
I'll keep this short, I moved out from my parents last month and just received my first bill for Gas from British gas on Christmas Eve of all times! They've quoted me £94 for the bill which I can't believe. The meeting reading when I moved in on the 15th Nov (which is confirmed on my account on their site) is 00490 and the…

Thinking of buying the smart boiler switch
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LightwaveRF-Boiler-Switch-White-JSJSLW920/dp/B00KZ5TIBM/ref=sr_1_cc_8?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1419433582&sr=1-8-catcorr&keywords=lightwave I was thinking of buying that as I already have a few LWRF devices around the house. The idea is that I would turn OFF the boiler when I am not in the house and then…

First utility are at it again. Bills over a year after leaving
We left FU over a year ago to a new supplier who picked up everything ok. FU seemed to have trouble noticing they were not my supplier any longer . Even though they had the final meter readings there was no bill and despite being in credit they tried to keep taking money out of my account via the DD that I had stopped. I…

Npower have got me very confused!
Npower seem to be the hottest topic of conversation on this forum, which isn't filling me full of hope! I have a feeling I may be at the start of a long conversation! I switched to them in May 2013 and have been a very happy customer until now! I received a REMINDER letter that I haven't paid my December bill for £67. I…

Can I request an itmeized bill?
Hello. I change energy suppliers in June, this year, and gave up on the co-op closing the account, as they failed to do what they promised. I have now received a final demand ( I have had no previous demands) for exactly £71. There are no details on the invoice, and I am concerned that they may have plucked the figure out…

Eon economy 7 meter
Hi I'm new here and have had a few problems that I would like help with, after hearing about economy7 and doing some reaseach on here and else where I calculated it would be far cheaper for me to have an economy7 meter fitted, I was on a pre paid meter from the last tenants and this was needless to say workin out very…

Frustrated (to put it mildly) with NPower
Seems like this is a fairly common thread on here but just wanted to contribute our two cents to the wider forum to gain comments and/or advice from anyone else in a similar situation. My housemate has just got off the phone with NPower about our account that was closed 3 MONTHS AGO which we are still dealing with. The…

Unfair Price Calculations from Power Companies
When will the industry regulator stop the power companies for setting monthly direct debit payments based on their estimation of future usage when they already have the full annual figures for a customers actual usage. I have this argument every year with my supplier EDF when I find I can save money by switching to a new…

E.ON MSE switch
Hi Guys, I have taken part in the recent community switch via MSE and while the account was still being transferred we secured a house and completed... I just wondered if there is even a remote chance of being able to take that tariff with us... Is there anyone I can discuss this with from MSE? Thanks!

Final Readings someone must be lying ?
Okay so my new supplier E-on confirm that their incoming readings have gone to N-Power for them to finalise their account. I am wanting to keep on top of this as realise both parties claim 28 days (Maybe 30) to do their side of the deal. As I will have a large credit and not a debt to pay I want done asap. However N-Power…

Smart Meters, displays/remote reading dont work if you switch supplier
Had a smart meter installed last week, installer stated that if i switch supplier the in house display and remote readings wont work, i thought this cant be right, the government are forcing the energy company's to spend billions of our money installing these meter's and they are not compatible with all the meter reading…

Advice on npower not meeting Ombudsman's deadline
Both I and npower agreed to the Ombudsman's Final Decision and npower was given 28 days to contact me with their remedy (in this case, a letter of apology and a repayment plan, taking into account my ability to pay). This they have not done. Does this mean the case can be dismissed and I do not have to pay the amount I owe…

Too much electricity usage.
Good morning all, we have had a high electricity bill for many years, the last years consumption was 5948KW whereas the average for a large house is 4900KW. Our house is not that big-3 bedrooms, gas heating and cooking, energy saving bulbs etc. We are careful with usage, not leaving lights on etc. We are at a loss as to…

Economy 9 with immersion water tank
I hope some of you can advise and help - we're lost! We have just moved in to our new flat, it's electric only with economy 9 tariff (no gas) and I have absolutely no idea how best to leave the immersion water cylinder as it has two mains switches linked to it, should I be leaving both mains switches on all the time? Or…

Economy 7
Thanks to this site years ago I cancelled my Economy 7 rate as I was not using enough to justify it. British Gas accommodated this by just adding my night rate to day rate and charging me just the standard rate. This worked well for years until I decided to switch to First Utility earlier this year, and I was told the…

Can a supplier leave you without supply for 2 days?
I am unclear on the full details but my brother has just posted on Facebook that eon have been round to his flat yesterday at noon, told him there is a problem with his meter, pulled the main fuse out and left. Now they are telling him they can't do anything until they send out another engineer on Monday. Are they allowed…
