Do you have accurate meter readings .
Was the BG tariff an old one .
How much are you using multiplied by cost .
Are you using more .
DD amount is not the way to judge the cost of a tariff .
See multiple identical posts .0 -

I would call BG and ask them for your kWh usage for gas and electricity for the last 12 months and then contact eon and ask them how much this usage will cost you, you will then know if eon will be more expensive. It will also help you get an exact figure from price comparrison sites in future as well. Good luck.0 -

Compare your old and new tariffs - not your DD payments. DD payments are meaningless: you pay for the energy consumed at the agreed tariff rate.
When did you switch? A lot of energy companies increase the DD for late season starts so that a big debt does not accrue. They are aiming for a zero balance on the account in April - the monthly DD amount will then fall. Check your supplier's ts and cs.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Comparing Direct Debit amounts is pointless. This does not confirm that they are more expensive. Check what unit rates and daily standing charge British Gas were charing you, and what E.ON are charging you0
-
OP you must have put in your annual usage incorrectly in the Comparison website when switching. They will use your annual usage divided by 12 to come up with a rough direct debit. I d be very surprised if your Eon tariffs and daily standing charges are higher than BGs. I ve just switched to them a few months ago at 10.8p/kwhr and 18 p dsc for electric and 3.6p/kwhr and 22p dsc for gas..much cheaper than BG s in my area
You must be on Eons best tariff, ( V13 now prob ) on a one year fix direct debit only to get the best rates. Its no good staying on the standard tariff. You will be thrashing the best that BG can come with on that0 -
What was the changeover date ?
Submit a set of readings now and see what the generated bill / statement saysNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
As others have said - the amount you are paying by Direct Debit is meaningless - you need to check your actual usage and the unit cost.0

Yeah it's not really saying how much you're using. I would advise submitting regular meter readings because I moved house and went to EON. They now want to move up my bill (massively) to £191 per month without me even submitting a reading over the last 3 months.
When I worked checked my readings they over estimated for 50-70%. It just reminded me that it was time to switch. The best deal for me is npower, but they don't have great reviews!0 -
Why are you all wasting your time over an obvious muppet ?0

Hi ChunnyGirl and welcome to the Forums.
As others have said, check the usage and prices. Our Monthly Direct Debits are based on these two factors. If either changes so will the payments. The aim is to achieve as near as possible to a zero balance by the time of the annual review.
Make sure, too, the account is based on accurate meter readings. If estimated, please let us have up to date readings. We'll be happy to re-bill the account and re-assess the monthly payments.
One thing that might help you keep track of your payments is a facility on our website called the Direct Debit Manager. If you've registered the account with our website, you can take more control over your payments using this tool. Comes in handy should circumstances change.
Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, you can change the monthly payments by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before putting the change through, we'll let you know by how much the account will be in credit/debit if the new amount is confirmed but usage doesn't alter accordingly.
If it turns out your using more energy than you thought, check out the Saving Energy pages on our website. Some good tips to help you save money by saving energy.
Hope this helps ChunnyGirl.
