How to use gas heating
We started 20 years ago with a new central heating system, which had thermostatic valves on each radiator. It gradually deteriorated and the boiler was chuntering away, so we have bitten the bullet and had a new boiler, power flush and the hive installed this week. The trouble is it seems a step backwards in terms of…

Temporary Electricity Generator?
My small business is facing a massive glitch as our electricity is about to be cut off! (Our supply currently comes from the former owner's house, and they are suddenly refusing to maintain the connection) It's a long story (that i won't bore you with!) but can anyone advise: it it possible to connect a generator to the…

First:Utility – My First Bill Experience
Joined them in September 2014 and they took a direct debit payment straight away. My first bill arrived early November and I submitted my meter readings again on 30 Nov. It’s 8 Dec and they have not produced a bill for this reading but I really don't have a problem with this. What I do have a problem with is their web page…

quick question....
May help others in a similar situation. Is it better to go for a 3 yr fix with Scottish Power at £700, or to "save" £90 by going for a 1 yr fix with isupply at £610? Obviously one expects prices to rise, but then oil has fallen of late and fracking, etc may alter the equation in time Thanks for any comments

Economy 10 tariff providers
I am in the process of trying to research this and it hasn't exactly been easy! I think I have identified three providers (who will also install a new meter): SSE, Green Energy and Good Energy. EDF have today told me that they only supply existing meters and Eon have told me they no longer provide the tariff. Does anyone…

British gas switching
Hi Wonder if anyone has got any ideas. I'm with British Gas on their standard tariff did a comparison using the energy saving club and can switch to Sainsburys energy (essentially staying with BG) and save £130 a year. British Gas offered me fix and reward with no exit fees. Am I right in thinking that I can switch to that…

ITV :ML Energy companies keeping your money when you switch?
Cuurnetly watching a feature on ITV with martin lewis talking about your old energy company retaining any credit when you switch and you the customer either having to ask them for it or lose it. If that is going on then it is truly criminal.

transfer from Scottish Power problem
We transferred both gas and electric accounts from Scottish Power to the Co-op and received confirmation on 1/8/2014. We had a balance of £140 credit with SP and waited for this to arrive. After 2 months contacted SP who said that the electricity account hadn't been closed but they would now close it. Still no refund after…

OVo Bill £500 for one month
Hi we moved into our house last year and had to keep the previous owners gas and electricity suppliers for a month before we could arrange changeover to British Gas. Despite asking Ovo for the bill several times and them keep saying they were trying to sort it out, we have just today received an email from them saying we…

Advice on energy bills please?
Hiya, I have never posted here before so bear with please :) I am in a rented apartment, been here 6 months. I pay £78/month gas + elec with EDF on their blue+ tariff. Obfuscation reigns in the energy market
My experience arising from my recent decision to switch supplier following information provided by the Energy Price Club leads me to believe that forecasts about costs to be incurred as a result of staying with my existing supplier were unrealistically high and that the resultant saving from switching to a new supplier is…

Scottish Power - Billing Issue
Hi We are with Scottish Power for both Gas and Electricity. Around May / June this year we had our Electric meter change from an E7 to standard meter. Since May we have not received a bill for Electricity. We have only been billed for Gas. I am sure I read somewhere that after 12 months power companies cannot bill you for…

Warm Home Discount - What Next for 2015/16?
I know this is possibly a little previous but I have been looking around to see if there is going to be a new scheme to replace the WHD after this winter? This is the final year of the scheme and it would be good to know whether there will be any help for 2015 onwards. I have done some googleing (is that a word?) but not…

Cheap Energy Club switching service quality
I recently moved into my first flat and applied to switch my energy supply to Eon through the MSE Cheap Energy Club. The confirmation screen came up at the end and said I should hear from Eon in about a week. Two weeks on, I have heard nothing more and Eon has no record of there being an application for my address. In my…

Huge electric bill
We have been renting a property in Scotland for 4 years. Our electric meter is not in the house, but situated on the second floor of a derelict barn accross the garden. When we moved in, our landlord obtained a reading for Sottish Hydro and all was good. We were told under no circumstances were we to enter the derelict…
