Hi all, I want to install a new combi boiler but want to make sure the person who does the installataion is qualified, i.e. he is Gas qualified etc. How do I check him out without offending him?

There are outfits that operate with somebody who has a Gas Safe card, acting as the "supervisor", with trainees doing all the work. All you have to do is ask who is who, and if they get touchy, it's them that's dodgy, not you being offensive.0

Interesting, I noticed that the page does not allow me to introduce a name to search but just the ID number. Is there anyway I can check names somewhere or do I need to ask for the ID to whoever comes to do the instalation?0

If you know the name of the firm, it lists engineers by name with their qualifications such as vented/unvented cylinders qualified. It is now a criminal act to work on heating without the proper qualifications. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Mmmm I only have his name. I suppose I will have to ask him for his Licence number? Jut did not want to antagonize him.
