Cheap Energy Club switching service quality
Options
I recently moved into my first flat and applied to switch my energy supply to Eon through the MSE Cheap Energy Club. The confirmation screen came up at the end and said I should hear from Eon in about a week. Two weeks on, I have heard nothing more and Eon has no record of there being an application for my address. In my CEC account, it says my switch is "in progress", and in their FAQs they say it can take 4-6 weeks for the application to be sent to the energy provider, which is different to what I was told just after I finished the application. And of course this means I am paying higher energy costs for 4-6 weeks longer than I would if I switched with Eon directly. So I was wondering have other people been in the same situation with the CEC and has it worked out alright eventually? For future reference, does anyone here have experience of using different switching services or switching with energy companies directly, and how do they compare? If they get things done faster, I would probably prefer to use them in the future.

Standard switch time is 4 to 6 weeks though the industry is starting to bring that down.
Every switch i have made has taken about 4 weeks including my last switch through MSE .0 -
Hi Pagw
Hope the move went well and you're now settled in your new flat.
Is the product you've chosen one of the four core tariffs as listed on our website or the MSE Collective Switching tariff?
If it's a core tariff, there's a 14 day cooling off period in case you change your mind. We'll not contact you until this period ends. The application will, though, be logged on our system.
I suspect you may have chosen the MSE Collective Switching tariff. This is a standalone tariff offered through the Cheap Energy Club at the end of October/beginning of November only.
Initially, applications for this tariff are being dealt with manually outside of our main systems. This would explain why the advisor you spoke to couldn't see an application for your address. As the Cheap Energy Club says the switch is 'in progress' I suspect it's going through but is caught up in the delays were experiencing.
Demand for the MSE Collective Switching tariff has been greater than expected. This has caused delays loading the applications on to our main system. The manual process, plus technical issues with our systems last week, has added to these delays.
Once loaded, the switch will be dealt with in the same way as any other change of supplier. As JJ Egan says, these usually take between 4 to 6 weeks to go through.
There's still a large backlog with the MSE Collective tariff. We're working flat out to push them all through but, at the moment, I don't have a time frame for when they'll all be done.
Sorry if I've the wrong end of the stick Pagw but hope this helps explain.
