Use "switch" site for the same provider....
Hello, Odd question, but can you use a "switch" service by one of the comparison sites to switch to a different tariff with the same provider....some offer cashback on these switches but I wondered if it was with the same provider whether it would still apply.... I see sometimes it does say cashback for "new…

Do you rent and want to improve your home's energy efficiency?
The government wants to make it easier for tenants in England and Wales to ask for energy efficiency improvements to their home. So they're making it harder for landlords to be able to refuse flat-out, which is what they can do now. You can read the full consultation but as it's 60 pages we have summarised key points…

Electric Radiators - Best Option....?
Hi We have just moved into an old terraced cottage that only has a wood burner currently for heating and is not on the gas main. We also have a young family so, while the wood burner is a great feature, we would love the ability to have some "controlled" heat available to us. Space is of a premium so having free standing…

Meter reading disputes
I moved into a new home in May 2014 and arranged for the gas/electricity to be switched to First Utility. The electricity switched fine, I was asked for a meter reading which led to a final bill from SSE and my account with First Utility set up correctly. They didn't ask for a meter reading for gas (and I had to query why…

Co-Op gas & electric debt mess.
I have been with Co-Op energy for about 18mths. I pay by direct debit. Yesterday I received a letter from them saying that they wanted to increase my DD from £71 to £539 a month to "help clear the amount of £2,940 that appears to be outstanding" This was a complete shock. I had no idea I was even in debt to them. I…

Gas meter reading
Hi, I have what appears to be an old Gas meter, by old I mean 1930's old. At the the top it says "Schlumberger made in England R5" if that helps. It has 4 digits then 2 red digits off to the right if the 4. My meter reading only goes up by 1 digit in the 4 digits every few days if not longer. The two red increase faster…
