eTRV
I have to write to tell you all about how eTRV have changed our dread of the heating season. We saved over £150 from our heating bills this winter due to having them fitted... We kept to the settings out of the box and it offered a great level of comfort. We had a new born this winter too and with the digital thermostat…

Scottish Power problems
Long story hopefully kept short My daughter is on a prepayment meter with British Gas, a few months ago she had a cold call from Scottish Power asking if she would like to transfer, she declined. Shortly afterwards she received a "key" for the meter from SP, she rang SP and explained that she didn't agree to transfer, SP…

Npower-useless.
Hi, I made one of my biggest mistakes last Oct when I switched from E,on over to npower. Originally it all looked like it was going well, switch over dates etc seemed fine. (28th Oct) I gave both E,on & npower readings on that date. Then the problems started, a couple of months in they still had not switched over the gas,…

Unfair revised final bill from Npower
Hello Just wondering if anyone has had similar experience or can advise me please...We switched from Npower in January 2013 and paid our final bill. This January we received an amended final bill for another £40 ish. I contacted Npower to ask why but operator was unable to explain, I finally had an email response which…

Comparison sites not showing the real "saving"
Comparison websites, including our very own MoneySavingExpert, are a little misleading in my view. Dare I suggest sneaky?! When they show savings on your future gas and electricity spend, these aren't the real savings. That's because they compare the proposed new tariff options against what you would pay in the future if…

Getting a gas tap installed. Possible?
I do some occasional hobby jewellery/silversmithing. I've historically done this with a portable blow torch, but this isn't really satisfactory. I've bought a cheap mouth-blown gas torch, but it needs to plug into a gas tap (like a bunsen burner would plug into in a laboratory or school). I've contacted a few gas fitters,…

Housemates refusing to pay bills... where do I stand?
I'm a student and have recently moved out of my third year house share, the tenancy for which ends at the end of the month. To cut a long story short, we've had final gas and electricity bills and my housemates are ignoring my requests to pay their share. The accounts for both are in the name of our letting agency, as…

In credit but they still ant to up my payments
I am with Southern Electric and on that economy seven. I spent most of this winter under a duvet and watching TV. No extra heating on but bill still sky high. All I use is one storage heater in my bedroom and use that to dry the washing. I also put the storage heater to mid setting in sitting room. I am all electric but…

Review of Direct Debit - Timing
I've recently switched suppliers to Co-operative Energy after a comparison showed that I would 'save money' by doing so. I based my comparison on the usage for the previous 12 months. A few months in to the new contract I have been told that they want to review my DD upwards - on the basis of my use so far. This happened…

NPower - back billing and compensation
Would just like some advice on what to expect. In short, I hadn't recieved a gas bill for 13 months until last week when it finally came through the post at £1000. Whilst my complaint has been running I've recieved a £20 high street voucher as a good will gesture. NPower had the audacity to write me a letter - recieved…

Well done SSE
We moved from NPower to SSE about a year ago. As it was the summer we built up a large credit on both gas and electricity. Given the mild winter this did not get consumed by the end of May. I put in an actual meter reading and requested a refund of £200. This was paid back to our bank without undue problems. A couple of…

Should I get a smart meter?
Just had an email from First Utility asking if I want a smart meter. Are these a good idea? Is there anything in it for me? If I get one from FU am I still ok to switch at the end of my term? Thanks in advance

Obtaining credit from gas/elec account
Hi, We're first time buyers and moved into a house about 6 months ago. We set up a gas/electric account with Eon, due to no previous history we were given estimated rate of £90 per month based on house size for first 6 months then a review. The 6 months will be up in next few weeks and I've worked out we'll be about £300…

Cost to change from credit to prepay gas meter
How much do gas suppliers usually charge to change a normal credit gas meter to a prepay to-up card meter? I had gas supply run to property last year and have just had a meter put in the gas box by SSE (Ebico tariff) ready for when I get boiler installed soon. I should have asked for a prepay meter then but didn't think.

Estimated final Gas Bill
Hi, I moved from Scottish Power to OVO on 30 March 2014. I provided my final new meter readings to OVO for Gas which was 9015 on the 31 March 2014. So OVO have started to bill me from 9015. Scottish Power have subsequently sent me final ESTIMATED bill for meter reading 9047 which i roughly about twice what I normally use.…
