Should I Switch?
Hi fellow money savers! I wondered if I could ask for people's opinion? I currently have the EDF Blue+ Price Promise tariff which is fixed until September 2013 and am wondering if I should switch to the more expensive tariff that's fixed until May 2014? Charges are: September 2013: 12.84p electricity kWh / 3.553p gas kWh…

Can any kind MSE see the catch?
Hi I have gas/elect with BG on standard variable. Approx £28 electricity £50 gas per month. I have moved to a fixed deal with another company but BG have now offered me a £200 credit on my gas account to come back. £100 after 3 month, another £100 credit after 12 months. This seems a good deal as I was only saving £75 for…

Faulty meter
British gas confirmed that we probably had a faulty meter after we received a bill for nearly 700 for the last quarter last year the same quarter was under 250. I was told after supplying readings for 7 days that the meter An old dial type one had a slipping disc. That the meter would be replaced and new readings taken to…

Problem with NPower
Hi I moved into my current address at the start of May and am still waiting for my first gas and electric bills from Npower. I queried this at the start of September and was told that this was because there a billing dispute with the previous occupant and that there was a problem with their new computer system which meant…

Help me understand my tariff and how to get cheaper??
Hi, I live in a classic three bed semi in West Oxfordshire which has storage heaters and the wierdest electricity set up I've ever come across! I have one fairly modern looking meter that has, apparently, three tariffs. I currently am with EOn and they simply call the three tariffs day, night and RHT. I understand what RHT…

Merging EDF energy accounts
I've recently had my separate gas and electricity accounts under EDF merged into a single account, although it took them long enough to do it. If anyone else has been through this can you tell me what happens to the credit left on the old accounts, it doesn't seem to have been transferred over.

Problem with npower fixed DD increase
We've been paying £60 a month fixed DD to npower for gas and electricity. This month they increased it to £133, which was a bit of a shock! Looking at the bill (which I find v difficult to understand) we used on average £59 worth of gas and electricity in the four months June to September. I think our bill for Sep-Oct was…

Economy seven meters
I was recently informed that you have a different type of meter for economy seven, mine has two readings, I have lived here for three years, and presume these economy7 meters are for the storage heaters which I have never used. So have been paying over the odds, and not using any electricity at night. Who is responsible…

EnergyHelpline or nPower comparison tool
This is strange. I used Energyhelpline to compare tariffs. Put my details in, based on monthly DD and kWh usage (12 months) from my last bill. I'm on nPower Go Save and the second cheapest turned out to be nPower's own fix until 2014, with a whopping saving of £1373 per year So I went on the nPower site and did exactly the…

Scottish Power Credit
I'm currently in credit for £361 and pay £94 a month direct debit. I called today to move onto their new package fixed until 2014 and got told my direct debit would be the same. When I asked to get some of my credit back I got told my monthly payments would go up to £114 a month. I have never been in debt with them and my…

Scottish Power waiving cancellation fee?
I've just had an email from SP about the latest price rise. I'm on online saver 17 (dual fuel) which carries a £50 cancellation fee. In the email it says the following: I'm pleased but is this normal? Furthermore - I'm a bit 'slow' today - how do I time the switch?

Sainsburys VARIABLE Price Check tariff???!
Hi all, I got sidelined by a Sainsburys Energy representative the other day  and badgered into switching to the "Price Check Jan 2014" tariff which apparently will save me £15 or similar. BUT this is a variable rate and I cant exit the contract till Jan 2014 without a fee (I am currently in the cooling off period so…

Npower prepayment meters
Hello there, I am on prepayments meters at the moment to repay a debt that we have with Npower. Though they have stated this was an error on their part, we of course are having to still pay. Now on meters, our gas has been cut off and the emergency has been used. I contacted them (second time i might add) and finally got…

Npower - Does it take 7 days to get an answer
Sent a message last week and still no reply. It was fairly simple as to whether there was a cancellation charge on my tariff. Is this typical or are they just experience a very heavy workload following the price hike?
