npower to edf switch hold up

Hi. We just recieved notification of when our gas and elec would be switched to EDF. However, we have now recieved an email saying that the reading EDF have is believed to be incorrect and it will take 4 weeks for npower to get them the correct reading! Now we're not sure who we're meant to be paying, or indeed how we can speed this process up. We've been pretty good at always submitting regular meter reading for both utilities to our energy suppliers and have allowed regular meter reading guys to some in and check them too. Is this something that is frequent with switching suppliers? Has anyone lses expereinced this and should we be doing something to get this switch back on track? We're concerned we'll end up paying both suppliers for the same energy, especially with prices rising recently. Many thanks. This is my first ever post!

sounds like npower dont agree with the read you have provided for the switch to edf, it will be going through a read dispute process
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If your reading isn't used, the new suppliers Data Collector will Deem one for you based on your previous history that they are sent by the old suppliers Data Collector.

This won't take the time they have quoted as it kicks in very quickly.

The 4 weeks is normally where your reading has been accepted and one of the suppliers invokes the Disputed Readings process to change it.

The old supplier has no say in validating the switch reading but they can dispute it for 12 months afterwards.

Suggest asking the new supplier about this as they can bill you from the accepted reading for now so it might just be a safeguard.
