Southern gas/elec refund to bank account without request
I pay Southern electric for dual fuel by set monthly direct debit. I'm a bit surprisd to see they have refunded my bank account by around £300 split between the gas and elec for overpayments. They didn't ask me if I wanted to leave it in my account or have it refunded. I really wanted it to stay in my account to cover…

Shall I move 2. who to? 3. If I move, should I get a fixed rate 4. Worried about moving and then find new company ups their…

Choosing first supplier
Afternoon folks. Looking for some guidance on the best way to go about choosing out first gas and electric suppliers. We have no previous bills to go on, so it's been difficult to utilise the comparision sites. Whats the best thing for us to do? It will be just my girlfriend and I in a smallish semi-detached. Gas will only…

SWALEC - how to pronounce?
This might seem like a really weird question, but there is a very genuine reason why I'm asking. How on earth do you pronounce SWALEC? Is it "sway-leck" or is there some other way of saying it? :o

Moving house-shopping around for energy providers
Hi there I am moving house soon and have started to think about energy providers- In my current home, N Power supplies both gas and electricity and had no problems with them. I know that the current resident of new home uses separate providers but cant remember who. My question is, is there any way of comparing providers…

Fixed Price no protection
Just received a letter from EDF informing me that my fixed price deal supposed to see me to Dec 2011 has been scrapped from 15th July and replaced by a new one which is 26.6% more per unit. They give you 15 days to accept or reject and switch. After that there will be a charge. So much for price protection contracts.…

Cancellation Fee
OK, I'm seeing a lot of people on here posting that if you have a tariff with Scottish Power which charges a cancellation fee, you can leave without paying it because of the price increase. I have also seen people question this a few times and never seen it be answered. I've read through everything that seems relevant on…

Unfair defaults on credit record
I was with British gas, swapped to n power and owed a £100. I agreed to pay it back at £10 p/month. I asked for direct debit they said it would have to be a plastic card. I made them aware of my concerns that i'm not good at money management, they said they had no facility to take direct debits on closed accounts. I…

Eon rep new meter when can I start entering readings online again
Hi Eon rep, I just had a new electricity meter fitted and it starts with a reading of 00009. How long should I wait before I give a meter reading online as I suppose going from 28765 to 00009 will upset the system somehow?:rotfl:

A simple question.
Who do I complain to? Following the price increases announced by Scottish Power, I was, like most people, dismayed at the scale of the price increases. I understand that prices must rise over time, however, i was not prepared for the ACTUAL price increses when I received an "Important announcement about your energy prices"…

Paying for someone else's electric!!!
Hey all, Having recently recieved some whopping electricity bills for our 2 bedroom flat (where we use relatively little electric) we proceded to investigate. Turns out, the meter labelled as our flat is actually reading the consumption of somebody else's flat. Clearly, this means, somebody else is paying for our MUCH less…
