Not Sure Which Way To Turn?

Hi,

For the last three years I`ve been renting a small apartment with Economy 7 heating so no gas. At the start of May 2011 we bought our first house, a 3 bed semi with gas and electric currently with British Gas as the previous owner was with them.
I gave BG the metre readings within days of moving in. In the first month we used the central heating twice and the gas fire three times for about an hour each time, we just got a bill for £124, £70 is for gas so I`m hoping that is an over estimate.

The reason for my post is because I`m unsure as whether to go for a fixed deal, I`ve made a note of BG`s Websaver12 which is roughly £955 for an annual bill so they say or just stay with whatever I`m on but give them regular readings? The vendor said his annual bill was about £100 a month but I think we`ll use less energy than him.

If I was to go on the Websaver12 the prices could still be increased for energy and although it appeared cheap to start with it could be more than for example EDF`s FixedSaver12 at roughly £1009 average annually.

I just want some opinions please as I don`t really know what the best option is. I`ve done some searches on this site and read quite alot but it`s endless and I need to make a decision in the next few days

Thanks

  • what tarrif are you on right now? call them and find out; if its BG`s standard then any online deal will save you money.

keep taking frequent readings - right now they are estimating your useage as you havent been with them for long.
