Fixed Price no protection
Just received a letter from EDF informing me that my fixed price deal supposed to see me to Dec 2011 has been scrapped from 15th July and replaced by a new one which is 26.6% more per unit. They give you 15 days to accept or reject and switch. After that there will be a charge. So much for price protection contracts. Anyone else had this. It was a Saver Deal.

which fixed price?
or is it online saver 7 - which is a variable deal, guarenteed at 2% less than standard price only and not fixed?0 -
Yeah Halloween Jack. It is Online saver 7, but I was under the impression that the guarantee was time protected 2% less than the rate which was in place when you signed. Obviously not. Will need to read the small print more carefully next time. Any thoughts on who is best deal at moment? Regards muirdrum0

Are they offering you their standard package?
Im coming from S@ver 6 end of this month and thats what they offering if I dont make my own mind up.Credit card and overdraft at 18. 2 loans and 3 storecards at 20. University education flushed down the toilet through debt at 22. Car finance at 23. Car repossessed at 24. Rock bottom at 25. Learnt my lesson 26-33. Now 34 with a mortgage on an affordable house, a car paid for with cash and a bank account in credit. I learnt the hard way.0 -
OS7 did not increase price in march - unlike all the other variable EDF products, so the current prices (under 8p a unit) is 33% below the standard rate , which whilst amazing - is unsustainable.
im greatful tbh - been on OS7 since nearly day 1 so had 8 months of low prices , a heavier than usual winter , but an extra 3 months of lowest prices to pay for it - was great.
but now its back to the guarenteed price - 2% below standard , so i shopped about - at first going for Fixed 2014 , but after reading here and chatting to the missus have changed to what i feel is the best of the `ouch` - fixed saver ve (2012) - actually cheaper than the new OS7 prices - and fixed for 15 months.0
