Heating a house via electric
I have come to the conclusion that to try and simulate a house centrally heated via gas is impossible with electric using heaters. It costs a fortune, even 1KW in each room that 7 rooms so 7KW/hour times 7 equals 49KW/day approx £5 a day. And 1KW is not enough to heat the rooms because when it finally gets to a comfy temp…

EDF Online Saver 7 with £100 cashback - think this has ended
Just to let you all know, I've just been doing a utilities comparison for my parents as they don't have internet access, and it seems the EDF Online Saver 7 offer with the £100 cashback has ended. It's not mentioned anywhere on the EDF website and the Martin's link no longer works - it just takes you to a different package…

British Gas Dirty Trick
I received a letter from British Gas (just electricity, I have no gas supply) urging me to sign up for "Energy Smart" and tempting me by claiming that I might make £150/year savings. When I started to sign up on their web site, I was advised that I would need to change tariffs. When I looked into the detail, I found that…

N Power Rollover Contract
Dear Forum, I have recently found out that I'm being forced into a 2 option sign up with Npower business. 1) I can sign a new contract far higher than anyone else, or (2) not sign up and be on a new contract that 3 times higher than others. This has all come about because I have only recently seen my terms and conditions,…

E-on Standard Rate with an E7 Meter
Any ideas?? My in-laws changed dual fuel supplier to E-on last year and during the call stated that they wanted to move away from E7 to a standard rate. All seemed well, the call agent stated that it could be done without a meter change as they could 'just add the units together' which seems a simple idea. They don't have…

NPower - dual fuel/direct debit discount
Can't find that this has been posted elsewhere, apologies that it has. I called NPower last week to switch tariffs as the one I was on had come to an end, and then realised that the dual fuel/direct debit discount of £100 had not been taken off my bill or paid into my account. If any of you are with NPower and eligible for…

We moved in to our new house around 3 months ago, and were never informed by our landlord who our energy suppliers were. when we received our first statement, we discovered that our landlord had placed our names on the existing energy account, and that this account was set up with CNG (cngltd.co.uk) for our gas and with…

Changed util end Oct, now prices are going up in Jan. Anyone in same boat?
I changed to NPower's SignOnline19 tariff at the end of October. As it was the most competitive at the time. Now (of course!!) they announce that they are putting up prices from 4 Jan 2011, and this tariff is included in the price rises. Am very annoyed as this will be just 2 months into my 12 month contract. I realise it…

Solar PV - FIT Query
Hi Had a 3.29kw PV system installed. Our electricity provider is EON. Is there any advantage in applying for the FIT to them or is there an energy provider with better (e.g. more flexible) FIT terms? I note that EON require meter readings within 7 days of the dates which they specify. Cheers

Electric bill discrepency from npower
Hi I apologise in advance if this post sounds naive and if it has been covered in other threads by others but I'd really appreciate some suggestions about my electric bill. I have just been sent a bill based on accurate reading that I provided. The first thing I noticed was that npower has been charging me more than the…

How long do you have to cancel your switch to a new provider?
I moved house at the end of October and have been in the process of switching both my gas & electricity provider from OVO to Npower Juice. The reason is that Npower were offering £200 cash back at the end of the year (which made the cost about the same, and as I knew Npower I was happy to continue with them)!…

Complaint to Npower Homeserve
Does anyone know the best way to complain to NPower Homeserve? I've called up their membership line who told me it's not them to complain to, they don't have a customer complaints department and have given me an email address to write to, but I'd rather do it over the phone as it's quite an urgent matter. Should I just…
