Changed util end Oct, now prices are going up in Jan. Anyone in same boat?
Options
I changed to NPower's SignOnline19 tariff at the end of October. As it was the most competitive at the time.
Now (of course!!) they announce that they are putting up prices from 4 Jan 2011, and this tariff is included in the price rises. Am very annoyed as this will be just 2 months into my 12 month contract. I realise it is a variable tariff and the contract says this is allowed, but it still leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth - they are clearly taking advantage of people joining just before the winter kicks in. I feel even more sorry for anyone who has taken out SignOnline20.
To leave will cost £40 (£20 each for elec and gas). Anyone out there in the same boat? Any advice or just 'tough luck'?

N-Power are the 4th of the big 6 to announce price rises, only two to go. You may well find that even with the increase you are on a good deal wrt the other suppliers. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I am not sure what part of the country you are in but as far as I can see they have given you a couple of months AFTER winter sets in at the current prices. Or are you living in some strange meteorological bubble that has not been affected by the recent headlines?
You must have known rises were on the cards. You had the option to choose their 'Football Saver' tariff which does not have early leaving penalties. You have also admitted it was the 'most competitive'. Three months at a competitive price - future months at a yet to be determined (afaik) how-it-will-compare price.
There is no reason whatsoever for a bitter taste.0
