Please help.
I separated 2 and half years ago after he left leaving me in quite of debt. I was struggling to pay my unitity bill which was paid by direct debit and changing banks. So they placed me on a electric & gas meter, i have now paid off all my arrears and have asked them if I can have the meters taken off as I'm finding that i'm having to top up every couple of days and would like to switch providers. Scottish Powers said because the reason why I had the meters in the first place I will have to pay £150.00 pounds per meter to have taken off.
Is this correct.
Thanks

Yes, this is correct. Note that the £150 may be a security deposit - it will be returned (after twelve months) with interest.
It should cost just £50 for the change of meter plus a security deposit - read letters again or phone them to check whether it is a deposit or deposit and charge or just the charge.0 -
Once all the arrears have been paid you should now be able to switch to the cheapest prepayment supplier you can find. You don't need a credit meter to switch.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.0
