Myself and my partner are looking at renting our first property together and at the moment we're trying to work out our finances. Unfortunately, when it comes down to electricity/water/gas and what have you we literally have no…

Advice please - not sure how our heating/water system works!
Hi, I'm a bit of a newbie here so please bear with me. We've just recently moved house and we're not quite sure how the new system works. Getting gas / electricity / water re-connected - is there a cheap way?
Hi there, looking for some advice about getting utilities re-connected on a house I'm moving into that's been unoccupied. Who do I contact to do the work? Would it be the utility companies? Are there different places to get it done, some cheaper than others, or is there just one expensive way?

A success story of sorts - 3 years of leccy bills in one day!
Hopefully this will be of use to somebody. I got 7 months of electricity for 65p and a £400 discount on a £1,400 bill just by asking the right questions. We moved into a new conversion (6 flats) in Oct '07. As soon as we moved in we did an energy comparison and tried to switch. Unfortunately, when the building was…

Heating a porch
This is probably one for those interested in thermodynamics... :) We have a small porch. There is then a single glazed…

Solar panels, a thought.
All the info and advice about solar panels is about siting them on a south facing roof. Can they not be sited on a south facing wall or fence instead if there is no obstructions to the sun? How do I find out my yearly gas and elec usage?
I would like to look at some comparison sites but obviously need to input my gas and electric figures for the year. Is there a quick way of finding this out, rather than wading through all the bills and totting up the total? I have SaveOnline with E-On at present. Thanks:)
