Getting gas / electricity / water re-connected - is there a cheap way?

Hi there, looking for some advice about getting utilities re-connected on a house I'm moving into that's been unoccupied.
Who do I contact to do the work? Would it be the utility companies? Are there different places to get it done, some cheaper than others, or is there just one expensive way?
