How do I find out my yearly gas and elec usage?

I would like to look at some comparison sites but obviously need to input my gas and electric figures for the year.

Is there a quick way of finding this out, rather than wading through all the bills and totting up the total?

I have SaveOnline with E-On at present.

Thanks:)

You don't have to 'wade through' anything. For electricity, 1 unit = 1 kWh, so take your last meter reading and a meter reading a year (approx) prior to that. Deduct the latter from the former and that is your annual consumption-pro rata it to 365 days if necessary.
Similar process for gas, but you will need to convert the units (cu ft or cu m) to kWh of course.
Or alternatively just phone your supplier and they will give you the figures.
    This may help.

I just rang NPower and they told me how much gas and electric I used in 12 months, I went to GoCompare and if I change my supplier to Sainsbury Energy I will save £425 per year. So it really didn't take any effort at all, I am now going to change over.
  • Just log into your account and look at the last years bills. Does it not show on your latest online bill what you have used for the past year? mine does.

Thanks to all replies and suggestions. Sorry for the delay in replying.

Malc, I'm sending you an email as I'm having problems with my pdf reader, so am unable to view my bills online at present.

I just received an annual usage statement for both gas and electric from my supplier, EDF. I understand that supplying everyone with an annual usage breakdown statement and indicative cost for the year ahead is now a legal (or regulatory) requirement
