Switch my G&E or wait
Last September I capped my G&E with Scottish Power. Is it now the best time to switch or do I wait? Which is the best comparison site to use for most cash back? Peter:confused:

Monitoring Electricity Usage
Hello, does anyone know how I can get my hands on a monitor so I can test my appliances to see how much electricity they use. I want to see whether it would be cost effective to buy new appliances rather than run old ones. I don't particularly want to buy a monitor and wondered if there was anywhere I can rent them from…

Do you think £2 per day is about right for a PAYG electric meter....?
For one person, in a flat, running an electric shower, hot water heater, one storage heater, laptop and broadband router, phone charger, kettle he never uses, occasional burst of fan heater (he is a student) telly, lights, (camera, action, lol) OH thinks it is excessive, compared to our quarterly bills, (bigger house, two…

Eon EnergyOnline Extra Saver v13
I see that v13 is now showing. The gas hasn't changed from v8 - and electricity rates are showing blank waiting to be announced. These are supposed to be 9% less from next month, but anyone want to take a bet that the online discounts will have been cut?

Am I paying too much??
I switched to E.On last year from nPower, & reduced my payment from £84 a month for gas &electric combined to £70 a month also combined (did it through quidco & got free energy monitor) & thought I'd got a good deal. But I'm now not so sure - having seen what other people appear to be paying, my £70 a month seems high…

thumbs up to Southern Electric...
Received a letter when I got home today for our last rented property - a demand for Gas, of almost £100. Straight on the phone to Southern (who supplied us under the Ebico guise there, and under their own name here) to enquire what precisely they thought they were playing at. The old house was on a prepay meter, I gave…

Energy Complaints?
Hi. Normally family and friends and tough enough to fight their own battles. But I was hearing from close relatives last night how they hadn't been well, and how they were having a difficult time with British Gas. Now, normally, I would expect people to fight their battles with the appropriate company, and if unable to get…

Cost of utilities compared to 12mths ago
I moved into a brand spanking new property last march - all mod cons, heavily insulated, very economical to run. The property we moved out of was a 1920's typical terrace - high ceilings, large rooms, 15yr old boiler, wooden floors, wooden window frames etc. We paid at the old house £55/mth for joint gas/elec with British…

Is it cheaper to boil water on my gas hob?
I have a camping kettle and just wondered how the costs of using this on the gas hob, compared to my electric kettle, would stack up. Anyone done any price comparisons?

Caveat Emptor - Direct Debit Credit Balances
A recent utility bill shows that I have built up a large credit balance following a 50% hike in my monthly payment. My utility company's policy - as described to me by their customer services - is not to return credit balances at annual review unless the customer rings up about it. On further investigation with the OFT it…

electric meter broken?
Hi, Had our electric meter read Feb 23rd. I generally make a note of the reading so I can check it against the statement when it arrives. As far as I can tell the meter reading hasn't moved since then, over two weeks ago. Probably a daft question but is it stuck, broke, whatever? If it is faulty, is my first…

Overpayment refunds from ATLANTIC
I changed to Atlantic (part of southern Electric I think). The monthly amounts seemed expensive at £80 and £60 but must have been based on past usage. I then applied for their "social tariff" as I have a heart condition and really suffer in cold weather (warfarin). They responded very quickly, approving the reduction but…

British Gas quote extortionate?
Hiya sorry for possible 'denseness' of this post but I don't understand central heating stuff. Anyway, decided to replace 30 year old boiler, got British Gas out for quote and they've come back with £3200 for a Worcester Bosch 12RI condensing boiler, new thermostat, power flush, something called a Magetite (I think) new…

Eon Underquoting?
I switched energy suppliers last year from Swalec to Eon reducing my monthly costs from £32.00 to £29.00 (hardly seems worth it now for the problems I've encountered). I carried on paying this amount monthly by DD up until last month when I received an additional bill for £192 - it turns out that since I originally…
