My Gas Bill
Options
Hi All
Just wanted to get a view from this community
Just got my British Gas Bill for start December 08 to end February 09 which has come to £350, which I feel is a bit much but have no real comparion as I was not living here last year.
I live in a 2 bedroom house in London and there is one other person in the residence. Both of us work so we mainly use heating in morning, evening and on weekends.
Is this a lot for a winter bill?
Thanks for your help

Bigger family and house, but I worked out our gas was costing us a fiver a day when it was really cold.
Are both meter readings actual (A) rather than estimated (E)?0 -
Yes both are actual as they came recently and read the meter and the bill has been issued after that0
-
How many meter units and how many kwh on the bill?0
-
241 Imperial Units (so is that 682 in metric @ 2.83 as is on my bill?)
and 7604 KWh0 -
OK, so now you need to make sure you do have an imperial meter. Your meter should have cubic ft or similar somewhere on it.0
-
It is printed 212 ft3 below the meter - does this help and is it correct?0
-
Well it seems that you have used 241 imperial units and it has been converted correctly, so I think your bill is right. The only other thing that could be wrong is if the serial number on the meter doesn't match the one on the bill.
241 units over a quarter is about 2.5units a day which is about right for us although we've used more this winter.0 -
Oh thanks - that's somewhat reassuring.
But still reluctant to fork out £341 for a single bill!!
Might need to back to firewood0 -
We have a three bed house, someone home all day but I've tried to be a bit frugal with the heating this year. Hot water for six, although we do share some bath water and cooking by gas. This year, our gas cost:
Dec £104
Jan £126
Feb £ 90
We do have a brand new energy efficient combi boiler and TRVs on all the radiators.0 -
Opened mine today - £481 - must be wrong???0
