Is it cheaper to boil water on my gas hob?

I have a camping kettle and just wondered how the costs of using this on the gas hob, compared to my electric kettle, would stack up. Anyone done any price comparisons?

I think the jury is still out but with a husband who drinks in excess of 15 cups of coffee a day and always forgot to actually get up and make it when the kettle boiled so had to reboil it :rolleyes: , and having seen the electric meter whirr round very fast when the kettle was boiling, I switched to a whistling, stove top model which will pierce your ear drums if you don't switch it off sharpish.

You could probably conduct an experiment...You would have to turn off everything else using gas and electric, then boil equal amounts of water in each and check the meter reading, then work out the cost using your price per unit. Please let us know the results!
