how much is a new boiler

Hi there we have a just bought our own house and the boiler is really old they said around 25 years old . It has a large tank in the loft and just started feeding water through constantly all we can hear is the water running down the pipes, it stops when i turn the boiler is off, which it is most of the time as im quite scared of it blowing up or something,does anyone know what may be wrong with it, how much its gonna cost to get it fixed or to get it replaced with a combie boiler.

Are you saying it doesnt actually work or that it just makes the odd gurgling noise?

Maybe you just need to get an "experienced" engineer in to give some kind of honest assessment? It might be fair to agree a fee for the assessment,something nominal.

It might only need some minor tinkering to have it working fine.

To get things in perspective,my boiler is probably 25 years old also. Its a wall mounted GW Spacesaver 50 CF for those in the know. It works fine and I wont be changing it as,despite its comparative inefficiency,my house is well insulated so the bills are fine at the moment. Old does not necessarily mean useless though it will be less efficient than newer models. Where are you?

Yes the boiler is working. The boiler used to make a few noises but you can hear the water trickling down the pipes constantly now when the boilers on and when we turn it on it has started to whistle and is quite loud. we have a glow worm space saver38.
