Received a letter when I got home today for our last rented property - a demand for Gas, of almost £100.
Straight on the phone to Southern (who supplied us under the Ebico guise there, and under their own name here) to enquire what precisely they thought they were playing at.
The old house was on a prepay meter, I gave readings when we moved etc.."no debt, nothing to pay" said the guy (and the meter). Now this, for £97.90. I explained this.
"Have you ever used another card in it?".."no. It DID eat money though, even with an A rated boiler".
I was on hold for a good 20 minutes +..."we can see something has gone a bit odd there...not sure what.."
I said I wasn't paying - "no debt" does NOT mean "we will charge you later on as we see fit". Person goes away, comes back.."OK Sir, not sure what happened there, but we've written it off and restored the zero balance. All sorted, and sorry for keeping you waiting".
So...computer cockup or whatever, I played straight with them all the way down the line, they resolve the issues for me with no hassle at all. Big thumbs up.:T
Plus, I quite like their hold music..I found myself humming along to it.:o
