Am I overpaying for gas??
Hi All I moved into a new bryant home (3 bed semi) 6 months ago and have received gas bills of £400 for the first quarter and £240 for the last quarter (mar-jun). This is a new home with a decent boiler and supposedly a good energy rating, does £80 per month sound excessive? There are only two of us, we both work during…

Should I fix?
I've been reading that 20-30% price rises might occur for electricity. I've had a look on USwitch and to fix to a capped tariff on Econ7 will cost me £10 extra per year based on current prices. That would be a capped price until August next year. Should I do it?

Is a 343 pound bill normal?
Hi everyone, I just wanted to get some comments or advice from others. I am in a one bedroom flat (my wife and I) and for the period of March 10th- July 2nd we received a bill from Npower for 342 pound! They are saying we used 2484kWh of energy for that period. Is that even possible for a one bedroom flat? Seriously this…

Should I pay on first bill
Justa general question, for years now, when my electric bill comes in I would pay it within around 24hours of getting it. Now last bill, it arrived about a week before my wages came in and to cut a long story short I left paying the bill for about 10 days. I didnt receive a reminder, just paid it then. NO drama or…

Switching nPower tariffs with moneysupermarket.com
Just a word of warning - I tried to change nPower tariffs through moneysupermarket (to get the £30 cashback), and all the correspondance (including the confirmation email) from moneysupermarket said this was OK. BUT - IT'S NOT! NPower sent me a letter telling me that as I was an existing customer, it wasn't possible. After…

Save money by playing power companies at their own game
We all know that most gas and electric meter readings these days are estimates. For many years I was amazed how British Gas used to get their estimates very close to the real reading however that stopped happening a few years ago. So for those that remember, for a while, the estimated readings were always quite high. As…

Is this a typical energy bill?
Just wondering if I could get others opinions on this. My apologies if this has been covered in another thread. I live with my partner in a 2 bedroom upper flat, in the North East of England. with double glazing throughout. We have a combi boiler, and use gas and electric which we pay for by DD to e:on. We both work during…

Who to complain to about British gas?
My partner needs to make a complaint about British gas demands for a final bill (£10 for one days gas!) which relates to 2 years ago when she switched to Atlantic (no wonder). They informed her of the sum 2 years ago and she complained to them and heard no more. They have just sent a final bill - she is going to pay to…

Key Meter but still in debit
Hey all, I hope someone can help me with this. We decided a few years ago to go with the Pay As You Go meter and kept paying tokens into the meter. Now this was excellent and kept getting a bill through from NPower that stated we were in credit. This Credit kept going up and up, but then a few months or so we then later…

British Gas - regret changing
I switched from Npower to British Gas for both gas and electricity and boy, do I regret it. The gas hasn't been a problem but the electricity has been a challenge from Day One. Overall, their customer service is everything but. In the beginning, I received two letters telling me the start-dates of my contracts and direct…

Warning on estimated power bills
This is important and if you have not yet sorted it you better get your skates on and sort it out. Best practice is to call your supplier and give them your meter readings at least every 3 months. Don't get into arrears and damage your credit file if it gets nasty with them. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7502896.stm

Are you ready for the price rise?
It is expected that gas and electricity prices will rise in the next few weeks with most companies probably waiting to see what BG's intentions are. Have you considered switching to a fixed rate, capped rate .. if you qualify, have you considered one of the social tariffs etc. Ivan

Prepayment meter
We are moving house from a home with a normal meter where we are paying £70 a month, there is no debt. The house we are going to has a key meter and is with Eon. I have told British gas that we want to stay with them and that takes 6-8 weeks to change supplier. We then have to wait another 28 days before they will remove…
