Am I overpaying for gas??
Hi All
I moved into a new bryant home (3 bed semi) 6 months ago and have received gas bills of £400 for the first quarter and £240 for the last quarter (mar-jun).
This is a new home with a decent boiler and supposedly a good energy rating, does £80 per month sound excessive? There are only two of us, we both work during the day and dont really overdo it on the heating or hot water.
I was previously paying around £20 per month for a 2 bed terrace, I realise prices have gone up but it seems like a fairly big jump.
Cheers
Chris

Sounds quite a lot. We have a 5 bed detached and pay £63 per month.0

Yes, my parents live round the corner in a 4 bed detached which is a similar build to ours and they paid £82 for the quarter that we paid £240.
I contacted EDF energy but the guy on the phone really couldnt help, could there be a problem with my boiler or meter? I guess it would be quite expensive to have someone come out and check them over??0 -
On a poor tariff? It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

No they have taken actual readings0

we are in eot 3bed house and pay £40 a mth we cook have heating and hot water with gas so yours sounds way to much.0

It is just a standard EDF energy tariff, they are charging the first 1638kwh at £3.98 and the next 6566 at £2.50.
Moving over to N Power should save say 10% off the bill but I was hoping to be paying around £30-40 given our circumstances therefore I cant help but think that is a problem with the boiler/meter0 -
Yes I am on monthly direct debit now, I paid off the first bill in full then set up a dd at £35 p/m which has just been put up to £80.
I wouldnt say I have the heating on too much, thermostat set to 20/22 degrees, the heating comes on in the morning for an hour and in the evening for around 3 hours.0 -
First quarter was around 15000 kwh but we had two family members living with us during that period and they were at home during the day so that was an unrealistic bill.
Last quarter was 261 units - 8200kwh0 -
It is a new build home and Bryant were raving about the energy rating so unless they messed up I would assume the insulation is up to scratch.0

No I do not use TRV's.
I think I will have to contact Bryant and my energy provider and see if they have any suggestions. I should add that I have the radiators in the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms switched off at all times so I would have thought that if anything I would be below the average consumption. especially with only 2 occupants.0
