Switching from prepayment meters?
I am looking for some advice.......
My boyfriend and I are completing on our first home next week. It has prepayment meters for both the electricity and gas and we have been told to get the changed asap as they are expensive. Does anybody know how we go about this and do we have to stay with British Gas?
Thanks

Have a look here on the British Gas website:
https://www.britishgas.co.uk/ManageQueries/HelpAndAdvice/TypeID/?Type=Case&SearchString=prepayment%20to%20credit%20meter&ID=996
Basically if you call them, tell them you're moving in, give you dob, full name, 3 years' address history and the current meter reading, they should swap the meter for a credit meter for you, although they may ask for a deposit. Any if you do stay with BG, make sure you go for direct debit with online billing and check on the website to see which is the current best deal.0 -
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.0
