Debt Advice Needed Please
Hi. Years ago I got in a mess financially which resulted in debt collection agencies getting involved. I finally paid off all outstanding balances about 2 years ago, and now owe nothing to any debt collection agency. I am still having trouble getting credit even though all balances have been settled, and I haven't missed…

Wednesday 12th September - What small things will you be doing today?
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym. But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when…

Please help me kill my overdraft(s). I've come up with three options!
So as a young over indulged, short sighted student i took out not one but TWO student overdrafts with two different banks (naughty i know). I maxed them both out at £2,000 and have been living with the £4,000 total debt for three years now, always only paying of the overdraft interest which seems to be about £30PCM for…

Subject Access Requests-experiences
Hi all Thought it might be interesting/useful to share experiences of SARs and the subsequent results. Especially for accounts not running as smoothly as they might :) I submitted 4 on 31 July: MBNA. Reason: to see if they really had my CCA and to pee them off. Result: cashed cheque quickly. No letters. SAR pack received…

Financial associations
Hi Me and OH have financial association through joint account with OD. If we close the account, can we file notice of disassociation with CRAs once marked as settled on our reports? Or do we have to wait until it drops off? It's our only joint financial product. One of us has a fairly good credit record and would like to…

"iqor" chasing debt from previous occupant?
Apologies if this is on the wrong board, not really sure where to put it. There was a letter put through the door addressed to a previous occupant. I say addressed, it was just their name so it has just been put through the letterbox. I have no forwarding address for them and being nosy, opened it. It's a calling card to…

Debt with Paypal (genuine one)
Hi all, I'm struggling with gambling addiction. My bank account is empty, yet I managed to deposit about 1000 pounds in total to a betting site via Paypal because of the delay with direct debit. I tried researching the subject but most of those cases don't apply to me, as this is not a case of fraud or misunderstanding. So…

Debt/Saving question
Hi everyone, I’m currently personal debt free but I have a car loan at quite a high APR. I also have £5k in an ISA as I was made redundant and got a tax free payment (hence the new car, my new job is much further and my old rust bucket wasn’t going to last much longer). Normally I’d pay the car loan off without hesitation…

Leaving debts with 0% APR out of a DMP?
I'm considering a DMP, probably with CCCS. I know it's advised that every unsecured debt is included, but if I have a creditor who is already charging 0% interest can I leave that out? (It was a three year interest-free credit deal, two years of which is paid for already.) There's only a couple of hundred quid left on it…
