Barclaycard and Apex

Hi.
I used to have a Barclaycard and i got into difficulty repaying, so i went on a DMP with CCCS about 8 years ago.

When i looked at my credit report early last year, i noticed that barclaycard had never closed the account or defaulted me and i thought that's good of them.

Anyway , about March last year i got a letter from a company called Apex saying they were taking over the debt and that all payments should go to them.
I though ok , no problem a debts a debt, doesn't matter who i pay.
However when i did a fresh credit report i have noticed that Apex have either put a new entry in or updated the old barclaycard entry with their own details.
The start date of the account remains the same , 2001 but all of the repayments that i paid to barclaycard have disappeared from the account history. Also the account is marked as 'Arrangement to Pay'.

Were Barclaycard wrong for not defaulting me? If so, what can i do about it?

How bad is it to have a 'Arrangement to pay' on my report? I am asking because i am looking to clear my debts down from my DMP in the vain hope of getting a mortgage late next year. I will also pay off this Apex company but it will obviously stay like that for 6 years after i pay them.

Many thanks

Be interested to read responses on this. I've just started a DMP through CCCS and assumed it would ruin my credit forever...

I know its a bit confusing but any help would be great.
    Thanks
  • Any agreements stay on you r credit report for 6 years, so eventually it will go anyway. However it will look much better to potential creditors once you have finished paying it off, the longer ago it was the better also. (TBH I would be surprised if you could get a mortgage as quickly as a year afterwards, but that's really up to the mortgage company).
  • Google ICO default guidelines. Then send a omplaint in writing about never defaulting. If 8 years ago it should be gone by now. If no joy refer to FOS
