Paying defaults - beneficial?
Hey! Have recently been discussing my partners financial life, she currently has ONE default on her credit file, dating back to 2017, of an amount of £359.78p. She has been in contact with the lender, and has come to an agreement with them that if the account is settled in full, the lender will remove the default from the…

Mortgage Not Showing
I got a mortgage with Nationwide over 6 months ago now, but it doesn't show up on ClearScore or Noddle. Does this matter? My credit score is decent, but I don't have much history and thought my mortgage would help increase it. Assume as I've got a mortgage and a credit card, I have no real need for credit anyway, so not…

Help me understand?
Hi all, I'm very, very new to the idea of credit cards, store cards and all credit related kinds of things. I'm 23, and for my whole life, my mother told me that credit cards were a very bad thing to have! Now, imagine my shock when during the purchase of a rather large item at Argos, she suggested I accept the offer of…

Fully or partially settled
I’m in a position to settle some old debts which have defaulted between 3 and 5 years ago. Is it better to fully settle, or take the settlement offers in terms of future borrowing? We are wanting a mortgage in the next 18 months and will be looking at adverse lenders due to some defaults being still visible. Thanks.

Can company impose CCJ without credit agreement?
Hello everyone, I would like some advise on if a company can impose CCJ if they claim I owe them money? Few items were bought from a seller with cash on delivery option. Few items were incorrectly sent by the seller without my consent and later acknowledged by the seller. Replacement was provided, however they refused to…

CCJ & Credit History
Hi, the person in question has large debt problem and a CCJ of over Fifteen thousand pounds. If they pay this debt off in full before the end of the year, how long will this remain on their credit file? After the debt is paid, do they have to apply to the court for a document to prove that the debt has been paid off? Are…

How long before a default starts to have less of an effect?
Long story short I asked Step change for a bit of help back in 2016 / 2017 and they gave me some really bad advice to go into a debt management plan and let all my loans default so I could pay the minimum Looking back I should really have ignored that advice as I was coping alright-ish at the time... Anyway thanks to that…

NAtwest Mortage and Equifax
Hi I recently had an issue with my mortage application. I applied for a mortgage with natwest, AIP OK, valuation OK, and now Natwest told me that my adress history is not up to date on Equifax records. I never had an account with Equifax so I had no idea. Always used Experian. Natwest said they have asked Equifax to update…

Credit Card dilemma
We are trying to boost my daughters credit rating. She has recently been in a relationship for 5 years with a guy who, how due you say, hasn't had the best credit history. Hers isn't great but not through non-payment but because she hasn't had any credit and she had a joint account with him. We canceled all associations…

A gap in my history with a company?
Hi there! I have just checked a Statutory report of my credit file, and cant help but notice a 15 month gap in terms of "payments" to a certain company. March 2015 a "Late payment marker" was added to an account, I cleared the debt with a payment plan which took around 15 months in total from the date in march. Now i have…

Partially Satisfied offer over 6 Years After Default
I defaulted on a credit card in 2010. This was subsequently passed on to Lowell and I made a payment agreement which I have stuck with since then. There is still approximately £4k balance and I have been sent an offer to pay approximately 50% of the balance which will then leave the account partially satisfied. When it…

How to use credit card to boost credit score
I've just got a credit card for the first time, aiming to improve my credit score. I recently got rejected for a current account due to my credit rating - I believe the problem was high credit usage (I have a £2000 interest free student overdraft maxed out as the money is in savings accruing interest) and low average time…

Quote Searches
Hello, My credit score shot up last month by 35 points. I would like to know why? Nothing major has happened. However could it be linked to my quote searches for life insurance and income protection quotes? I wouldn't imagine. It's not like I have paid off a big loan or credit card?
