Joint credit for first time

Hi everyone
I've been rebuilding my credit over the last 5 years or so. I'm now able to access decent interest free credit loans etc and have all payments up to date on my credit file (about 4 defaults approx 5 yrs old too!). I know the number is irrelevant but the MSE credit club is showing my affordability for everything as 'fair' and it's at 720.
My question is; I'm getting married soon, my partner has a very good credit rating and it has always been spotless. Although i think mine is pretty average now, I'm worried about us being co-scored and my file dragging his down. Is this possible? I don't want to adversley affect his credit file. We want to open a joint bank account, which we could do but it's a worry.
I'm sure there used to be an option on the MSE credit club where you could put in the score of the other person to see how it would affect your ratings but I can't find this feature anymore
thanks for listening!

You'll be reviewed together for joint products. The other person may also be taken in to consideration as an associate for single applications thereafter.
There's no tool for seeing the impact it will have, as it depends on the data, not on the scores.
Generally, lenders will consider the potential impact of the highest risk applicant.0 -
You will only really be co-scored if you both apply for joint CREDIT. (not just a bank account). I wouldn't worry too much, if his credit file is excellent, and yours is average, then you will jointly "score" above average. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thank you! Does this automatically happen once legally married or just when we first take out something financial together such as bank account etc?
thanks0 -
Just financial products.
You can marry as many people as you like without a financial association being formed (although etiquette suggests you should only marry one at a time).0 -
he he! thank you0
