Broken goods in store
Hi. I'm looking for a little advise about dealing with goods broken or damaged by a customer in a retail store. I was under the impression that if I broke or damaged something in store, the store could only insist on me paying the cost price for them to replace it, not the retail price, (they can, of course ask me to pay…

Should I pay for replacement when item is faulty
I bought a Garmin GPS 2 years ago. The corners of the keys have started to appear white at the corners. After communication with Garmin, they have offered me a replacement but I have to pay £82.80 as it is out of it's warranty. Is this correct or should they replace it for free as it is defective?

Home broadband - massive termination fee
My girlfriend just moved in with me, so now we have two contracts for broadband Internet + TV + phone. We'd like to cancel hers (with talktalk). Unfortunately her contract has 17 of 18 months remaining, so we expected and were willing to pay a large termination fee. However, the termination fee was still larger than we…

Sports Direct again
I will never again buy anything from Sportdirect. I don't care how reasonable their prices are, their returns policy is insulting. You don't know about it till you get caught out. I bought a pair of running shoes today for £60 but when I got home I realised that they were such a good fit I couldn't get a sports sock on and…

Car Parking Fine - Debt Collectors
First of all, apologies if I have posted this in the wrong section. I tried to post it in the Citizen's Advice forum, however, it would not allow me to. A few months ago I was wrongly awarded a car parking ticket in a private car park despite the fact that I was complying with all the regulations (had a valid ticket,…

Fuming with Samsung. Where do I stand?
OK, this is going to be a long one as the issue has been going on for months, but I will get to the point. I bought a 2nd hand Chromebook from eBay. After using it, I found the version of the OS was outdated and wouldn't update. Raised the issue with Google, and they said it was due to a process issue in the past where…

Homebase Broken Bed
Hi, I am currently having problems with Homebase and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this for me. I bought a bed from them in 2011 and within 12 months, the middle support for the bed (the two legs in the middle to stop me sleeping on the floor) bent. I called Homebase who took the part number and sent a…

Restocking fee for non delivered item...
I ordered 40 railway sleepers, and had 20 delivered. We were waiting for the other 20 but they couldn't confirm a delivery date so was okay to hold the delivery until we could take delivery. Wouldn't be so bad if they weren't less than a mile away, anyway. We miscalculated and only need 25, so I called and asked for just 5…

Data Protection
First of all I'm not even sure if this is relevant for these pages but I thought I'd try. I am renting a property through a rental agency in England.
