Sports Direct again

I will never again buy anything from Sportdirect. I don't care how reasonable their prices are, their returns policy is insulting. You don't know about it till you get caught out.

I bought a pair of running shoes today for £60 but when I got home I realised that they were such a good fit I couldn't get a sports sock on and the shoe! I took them back a few hours later and tried on another pair a half size up but the fit was all wrong. Nothing else fitted properly so I asked for a refund. I've never been refused a refund in my life as I always return anything not satisfactory very quickly. No other shop has ever refused unless it is a sale and they tell you what the deal is before you leave the shop. He did point to a notice on the counter that nobody sees - but they should tell you when you buy. I did want to punch him in the nose for being such an arrogant bleep, especially considering that only a few hours had passed. Never buy from sportdirect or any shop that treats its customers in such a cheap way.

According to this website info on consumer law I don't have a right to return the shoes because they don't fit properly? or could I argue they are not fit for purpose - they are not. Other shoes they had just just didn't do it for me - wrong fit, colour etc. The feel has to be right.

I am in the process of emailing and waiting for a reply to see if I can get my money back. Even if I succeed I will never shop there again unless it's for something under a tenner.

Why did you not try them on in the shop. I agree Sports Direct are the pits but they are correct in that they do not have to give you a refund for items that do not fit.

Of course I tried them on but I forgot that I would normally use a thicker sock. Going shopping shouldn't be a trap. It shouldn't be oh no I made a mistake. Tough mate. We've got your money now type experience. To be fair most shops would give a refund in my experience.

Now I'll watch Sylvester Stallone kill some bad guys - I think I see a Sports Direct shop. That's how I feel when I get badly treated - imagine how people feel when they get bombed! Yea I should have tried on the Boxing Gloves. I hate being treated like a mug even when I am. The retail experience really should be something better.

But those are shops which offer the customer rights OVER AND ABOVE rights under SoGA.

No retailer is obliged to offer an exchange or a refund if a customer purchases an item which is not faulty. It is your 'duty' as a customer, to ensure you are happy with a good before you purchase it and walk out of the store with it.

So, despite all your posturing, unfortunately you are at fault because you didn't ensure the shoes were suitable for you.

Sports Direct are a 'pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap' place. They keep their costs down, in part, by not offering exceptional customer service.

YOU bought from a shop that is well known for it's refund policy. YOU forgot YOU were wearing thinner socks (and YOU wanted to punch the shop assistant). Can YOU guess who is at fault? Sports Direct are not.

What a nice person you are!

Wanting to punch shop assistant because YOU made a mistake?

    Shakes head in disbelief
  • Oh right I make a mistake so I must pay. Nice shopping philosophy. Very glad most shops dont take that attitude. The customer comes first is the motto of good shops. Sportsdirect take the attitude of dodgy used car salesmen. Customer service not a strongpoint.
