Currys/PC World - TV Guarantee

Hi first time on the thread.

I bought a TV from Currys at £199 (in the sales at a really good price 3D TV 32") tv has broken and is irrepairable. Currys have said that I will receive a letter and get a new tv from Currys or PC World. The questin I want to ask is, Will I only be allowed £199 or will I get a 32" 3D Tv again?

Many thanks people.

How long ago did you make your purchase?
  • I bought it 11 months ago, they have said to the wife that they will send a a letter out for a replacement but she forgot to ask what that entails.

The choice to refund, replace or repair is up to the shop, so I'm guessing they might refund...? They can also make a deduction for the 11 months use you have had too...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

You will either get your money back (possibly a little less but probably not) or the offer of a TV to the value you spent. You will not be getting (say) a £500 TV.

Is this under the standard warranty, or under an extended service plan (Whatever Happens)?

If the latter, you'll get a voucher for £199 (+ pro-rata refund of the outstanding Whatever Happens support). However, if you go to a store they can override the value of the voucher to provide you with an equivalent unit (generally tech goes down, so this works out better for most people - but if it's gone up they can get that sorted out too).

    Under warranty - I don't know. I would imagine you'll get a £199 voucher (i.e. no depreciation taken into account), but I'm not 100%.
