Benchmarking
There have been two recent threads on benchmarking; How much spare money do you have each month? and How much do you earn? I have often felt that the Budgeting and Bank Accounts board is dominated by banking posts and light on budgeting. I see a distinct gap in the personal finance planning sector on benchmarking and best…

Best Buy Bank Accounts that are for new customers - not switching
I see a lot of topics about the best switching deals, but i am looking to just open a new account to use for our household spending. I will be depositing £800 a month from a standing order from our joint account - any recommendations? Overdraft is not important, I can set up a few direct debits to come out if it gives me…

U switch to new account while still overdrawn?
Hi, currently bank with Halifax and have a £1200 overdraft which I end up being at the limit every month and making my finances difficult to work thus can't seem to chip away at it. Have one of Yorkshire's current accounts, which they're now cancelling and won't offer a Basic Bank Account. Can…

Halifax P60
I have just received my Annual Reward Summary and was surprised to note Halifax have paid tax @ 20%. I guess HMRC regard this as other income? Those who earn less than their tax allowance could reclaim a very small amount and those paying 40% will have an additional liability.

Which bank account without online spending?
Hey guys, Basically I am in a large amount of debt. I could easily repay it over time. But my issue is online spending! I've had the debt for a long time and it's time I change my ways. A friend of mine has defaulted on a mobile phone contract and has now got a letter from a debt collection agency called Creditlink Account Recovery Solutions (Paycars). Apologies if this is the wrong forum! I am finishing a university course in a few months and have my job lined up. NatWest electronic transfer: ‘DAILY limit’ on my current account.
I’ve asked the NatWest on several occasions to increase my ‘DAILY limit’ for electronic payments to my nominated ‘payees’. However, they’ve told me it can’t be increased and won’t (or can’t) tell me how my personal ‘DAILY limit’(£20k) is actually set. From time to time I need to move large amounts of cash (at very short…

Upgrading bank account
I have a FlexBasic account with Nationwide (my wife banks with them, but we couldn't do the £100 referral fee thing). I want to upgrade this to a FlexDirect account. Would this show up on my credit file negatively if I did upgrade? Also, I assume that I couldn't simply open a new account as part of a referral from my wife,…
