Natwest Account - Stopping a standing Order
There is a standing order on my Natwest Bank account set-up for £650. It is due to go out on the 1st April, I looked on Natwest on-line banking today, clicked cancel but it tells me any standing orders in the next 3 days will still be paid - oh good. I do wonder why it can't just be cancelled now, as I don't want to pay…

I know that some Maestro and Solo Cards have just a start date and expiry date and Maestro and Solo cards have an issue number and an expiry date. However I want to know if anyone has a Maestro or Solo card with BOTH an issue number and a start date?…

Alliance & Leicester - What a load of ****!
Hi guys, I recently signed up to A&L £100 off, and transferred from Halifax. Basically, I am very disapointed and wish I didnt transfer to them! Their whole service is pants! Also, I have just tranferred 3 payments, £100, £50, and £240. All three said that they would be processed next day... I called up and they said that…

Paypal mess up, charge wrong account, I end with overdraft charges.
Hi I recently made a payment of about £125 using paypal. Knowing that my bank account could not support this payment at the current time I explicitly instructed PayPal on their confirmation screen to debit my credit card, and their system confirmed that this is what would be done. No, my credit card wasn't debited, they…

Alliance and Leicester £100 transferring from Cahoot?
Hi Been thinking of changing my current account from Cahoot to Alliance and Leicester to take advantage of the £100 offer when opening a new current account. I know it says Abbey customers don't qualify for this, but was wondering if Cahoot is the same (being part of the Abbey). Didn't see it mentioned on the A+L website.…

Going from Natwest to Halifax - Questions
Hi all, I currently hold a natwest account and am liking the look of the new Halifax deal where they pay you £5 per month. However, at the minute I hold a graduate loan with natwest and am also overdrawn- by around £500ish. Would they insist on me paying the loan and overdraft off before cancelling and going to Halifax or…

I had a chuckle this morning...
.... logged into my LTSB account and in the current account header it invited me to open a second current account (for bills etc). Also, at the bottom was a message about opening a second account. I click on the link. Get a message along the lines of "Sorry, we're unable to offer you this product online." Or words to that…

Worried about sudden drop in LTSB's internal scoring to 9!
Hi, Today I went to LTSB, thinking about temporarily increasing my overdraft (fixed savings maturing in 3 days time, but may need some cushioning in 2 days time). I was shocked when the person told me she couldn't help because there is a "Credit Policy Decline" listed next to my Overdraft, and also told my internal scoring…

Need to Send a Cheque in US Dollars - Help Needed!
Hi everybody, I need to send a cheque for $500 to a university in the USA. The instructions are that the cheque must be "drawn on a U.S. bank (or a bank with a U.S. branch indicated on the front of the check)". How do I go about this? Do I ask my bank to do this for me? I've looked on the websites of HSBC and Nationwide…

Need a cheap direct debit quickly!
A slightly strange request: A few minutes ago I signed up to the A&L account that gives you £100 if you let it transfer your direct debits and standing orders to them. Unfortunately I've just noticed that you need at least one direct debit in order to qualify for the £100, and I don't have any (I only have standing…
