Filtered faceplate worth fitting or old wives tale?
Just wondering whether it's worth getting a filtered faceplate if you have decent internet access. I am on full fibre with 80:20 speeds and I get 71mbps up and 18mbps down which is the highest I've seen for 80:20 connection. It doesn't use a filtered faceplate. Would I benefit from it?I'm inclined to think that those…

Old virgin media account help
Hi all, I'm looking for some help/advice on an issue that has arisen on an old virgin media account. I moved out of a shared house 8 years and it turns out that at the time the broadband for the house was in my name (I now know I should have changed this at the time). This morning I suddenly received a forwarded e-mail…

Vodaphone Broadband
I am coming up to the end of an 18-month contract with them which is on the 06DEC20. I called today 29NOV20 and after a 20 min wait to be answered, stated that I would not be renewing and that I have gone to another provider which they asked about and why fair enough! The operator then said the contact will be still billed…

So a quick question for anyone smarter than me🤨 We have virgin broadband in our house which is very good with excellent speeds however last year we had an extension built and as good as our broadband is, it is very poor in the extension. We have tried many different boosters all with little luck so we have decided to phone…

Mobile phone SIM in 4G router
We live in a rural area and are looking for a way out of the constant slow broadband and terrible service from broadband providers. We’re thinking about getting a 4g router because we get good 4g here. We want unlimited data. I’m confused about the cost though. I’ve read a Which report which says that it will be much more…

Rejected BT Basic, advice pls!
I've been on income related ESA long term due to having a lifelong disability and first applied on 3/9/20. I was told I had to be on a BT contract so asked what their cheapest tariff is, they said it would be easier to transfer if they put me on their standard tariff, £27 a month plus £20 activation fee but they said not…

Virgin renewal success
Also posted in the Virgin Haggle thread but this part of the forum looks more active: Virgin gave me a renewal that matched their Bigger Bundle Black Friday new customer deal of £45 per month - but I didn't get this price by asking for the new customer deal. (and no setup fees) I rang twice. The first time I was told the…

Disputing exit fees
I've been with Post Office broadband for over a year and took out a new 12 month contract in August at £17 a month. I've been happy with them and my connection has always been 16 - 17 Mbs. Technology moves on and a month ago I saw I could get a much faster connection for little more. I couldn't find out what the…

Virgin won't budge -- a little unfair
Signed up for another year with Virgin Media in Sept, as we've been happy with them so far. Our Landlord has unexpectedly decided to move back into her (our) flat so rather than rent again we pulled our savings and with help with mums & dads bought our own flat, which we move into at the end of this week. We called Virgin…

Virgin Cable
I've been with Virgin for a couple of years, usual package, landline phone, broadband and TV, using their cable which was installed, same time frame, to the whole village where I live. Now fed up with high cost of that supply, can I swop to another cable supplier and use that same cable? Second question, who do I go with?…

Openreach mis sale and house purchase
Hi there, I'm not sure if this is the right section for advice but here we go. Bought a house earlier this year, my first purchase. Before buying I did my due diligence and checked out my broadband options here. To my joy BT said it is wired up for full fibre FTTP and promised me speeds from 300mb to 1gb. This was a major…

New Customer or Not?
Openreach have recently brought fibre broadband onto my village. I am thinking about taking out a contract with BT but I see that their offers seem to apply to "New Customers" only. I have previously had BT as my ISP but long before they offered a fibre service. I left them over 4 years ago to join a wireless supplier…
