My son is moving to a new house this week. At present, he has Sky TV & BB in current house. Sky can fit a dish on Friday in new house but can’t install BB until January ( something to do with needing to dig/ fibre, don’t understand it myself ) He needs BB because he’s working from home & also kids devices & laptops for homework. For short periods, kids have used his hotspot on his O2 phone but it would cost too much for a month. Is there any workaround for this?

Ask everybody to come to your house and use your wifi? During the day for your son and for an hour or two after school for the children?

He doesn’t live close enough for that. Thanks.Neil_Jones said:Ask everybody to come to your house and use your wifi? During the day for your son and for an hour or two after school for the children?:smileyhea A SMILE COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING0 -

During the day for your son and for an hour or two after school for the children? The above might be OK if the current lockdown restrictions allow it.An alternative (and future backup for broadband failure) could be a Three data only SIM and an old phone capable of being a hotspot or MiFi unit:Fairly good value with 12GB of data for £28.27, and valid for 12 months. Different capacities and durations are available. Saw this mentioned in another thread and would credit who posted it, but can't remember! It seems those are quite often on special offer, and the best MSE approach is to keep monitoring the price for offers and grab one when the price drops.
Edit: Of course the above would only be useful if there's a good Three signal at the new house!

I was just about to suggest the same thing as victor2 with a small difference If the THREE signal is good, then it would be cheaper to get a mobile data SIM from Smarty (smarty.co.uk, owned by THREE). They're doing an unlimited mins/text/4G data SIM for £15 per month & the offer ends tomorrow.

He’s going with this option. He’s not sure about the 3 signal but for £15 thinks it’s worth taking a chance.KSIyer said:I was just about to suggest the same thing as victor2 with a small difference If the THREE signal is good, then it would be cheaper to get a mobile data SIM from Smarty (smarty.co.uk, owned by THREE).
