New provider switch date
When I switch home insurance providers, I set the switch date (i.e. switch date = end of current contract date) yet with broadband + 'phone providers, I have been unable to be that precise. "Give us a call about two weeks before you want to switch", seems to be the usual response from the new provider with the proviso that…

Now broadband prices
Now are still offering standard broadband for £18 , which includes calls. The site says that afterwards the price is £25. Does this still include calls ? The site doesn't answer this question and there appears to be no telephone contact (This rather puts me off)

Shell & Plusnet- is anyone else confused?
I looked at both Shell & Plusnet from the MSE newsletter. Shell says £23.99 includes £100 cashback, where as the newsletter says £23.99 PLUS £100 cashback. To me that's two different things. Plusnet, when I go to add on a call package, it says unlimited calls to UK landlines and 2,000 minutes to UK mobiles for £9 a month…

Cancelling broadband: do I really have to phone?!
My PlusNet contract is coming to an end: I gave 14 days' notice of cancellation via a message on their Help Assistant two weeks ago, but they responded by telling me I need to contact their Customer Operations Team to cancel my contract. Phone waiting times are very lengthy at present, and I have zero interest in any sales…

Virgin Broadband - "New" versus "Existing" customers
Not sure about this but is there any kind of code of practise around new versus existing customer. I am currently paying £66/month for the Virgin M350 Fibre broadband and experiencing dreadful issues and when I went online saw that I could get the M500 Fibre broadband for £45/month for a new customer. On raising this with…

can I use a BT Smart Hub with Shell Broadband?
Just wondering as I've heard the one you get with Shell has slow LAN speeds.

Can I leave penalty free?
I have until recently ( Thursday 24th September 2020) had a broadband and BT sport contract with BT. I renewed my broadband contract in May of this year. This contract was for two years. Upon receiving the dreaded letter from BT this week informing me of a £4 per month increase on my BT sport I decided to cancel the Sport…

New Property! How to install WiFi
Just purchased a new property, not in touch with the owner! There is a telephone line and an old BT Broadband unit, however I have no idea of the old telephone number, or a means to check really, to give to new potential broadband suppliers. Can I simply call BT, give my home address details and ask for the tel# at the…

BT_ TERRIBLE PROVIDERS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE / BUSINESS
I am complied to write my experience I have endured over these 10 days with BT BUSINESS. And the way I was treated, it felt like gaslighting. Basically I arrived to work one day and my phone line was down, so I called to voice my concern as I rely on telephone calls and internet for my bookings for my business. I waited…

Talktalk Engineer fine for changing time & nightmare
Some may not agree but I think it's abysmal. For the last few weeks. have had intermittent connection drops and reducing speed along with interference on phone calls. I ran multiple system checks via talktalk website - which resulted in the message no fault - check home set up click this link [I had already gone through…

Broadband speeds - not sure what to do
We really struggle with our broadband. Typically get speeds of around 5mb I think. Uploading is horrific (and unfortunately my job involves a lot of uploading videos etc). I was looking to move provider. Have just looked on the BT website and they say typical speed on 5-10mb, guaranteed speed of 3mb. Am I right in thinking…

Looking for a Broadband Provider who won't charge extra to reconnect an existing BT line
Good Afternoon Apologies if this turns out to be "War and Peace" but I will try and be as brief as possible. I, like a lot of people change Broadband provider every 12/18 months to get the best deal. I have been with various companies over the years and have both a BT line and Virgin line in my house. My current provider…

Recommendations
I switched to Vodaphone and have consistently had problems Slower than promised speed but worse, dropping out literally every few minutes. After hours of moaning they rang me to say it was “an amber cable link capacity issue” and I should contact BT Openreach directly. They said they had to be referred by the provider.…

Plusnet "System Error"?
I signed up for Plusnet Unlimited Fibre Extra Broadband (and line rental only) in May this year (so just over 5 months ago). The deal I signed up to was £26.99 for 18 months, then £40.98 from month 19 onwards. I've received an email this morning that because of a problem with their system, I've been incorrectly charged for…

Are BT mis-selling their products?
I have just switched to BT from Virgin, and got an unlimited Fibre 1 package. I really wanted a Fibre 2 package, but that wasn't available in my post code. Obviously, when I set up my equipment, some issues came along with the new service, the phone line was dead, didn't get a tone. So I booked an engineer to come a sort…

BT price hikes - HAGGLE NOW
Just a quick top tip to any BT customers who're shocked by recent price rises. My phone package went up by two thirds this month. My TV and Sport packages are both about to go up by 30ish%. How can they justify these price hikes when inflation is pretty much 0?? Anyway, I called (VERY long wait, but it's an 0800 number)…

BEWARE Shell Energy Broadband £15 Cost to leave
Last October I switched to Shell Energy Broadband and although very slow at least it was cheap with the Discount which was to be applied within 3 Months, they have a strange way of billing which is difficult to make head or tail off but after contacting them the credit arrived but not in the way I would have expected. (I…

Ofcom regulations when switching providers

Ultrafast Fibre - Government Rural Gigabit Scheme
Openreach are installing fibre to the premises, they encourage residents to pledge a freely issued Government Rural Gigabit Voucher worth £1500 to Openreach (the voucher has no other use) so as to contribute to the fibre installation cost. Clearly that installation cost is likely to be less per resident if you reside in a…
