Advice on reducing savings in retirement
Is it possible to give grandchildren gifts of money to reduce my savings so that I would fall below the £6000 exemption that most state benefits set. e.g. say I have £20K, could I gift 5 grandchildren (all under 18) £3000 (£15K total) leaving me with savings of £5000. Would the DWP / Local Council try to say that I have…

Child Tax Credit - income higher than expected
When I renewed my tax credits last year I quoted my expected 2007/8 income to be £20103 per annum. I have been receiving £104 per month CTC since August (it was £115, then £82 then jumped up following an appeal over my working hours). However I won an appeal against my former employer for backpay and received £1200 before…

Housing/Council Tax Benefit Calculator
I've just stumbled across this calculator on East Lindsey District Council's website. It says that it is only an estimation, but I think it's better than the Entitled To website and seems more accurate. http://www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/advice/benefits/benefits-calculator.cfm However, please bear in mind that this is East…
