Incapacity benefit after redundancy

I have recently been made redundant but before that had been off sick for 7 months though still receiving pay from the company. I am still unable to work - severe arthritis - and wondered when I should apply for IB as I received nearly 3 months pay in lieu of notice which won't finish till April. Should I apply now for IB or should I wait till then? I would be grateful for advice!
