LISA 25% penalty charge
My Granddaughter has a stocks and shares LISA, which (at present) is doing very well. If she cashes it out, rather than using it towards buying a house, does the 25% penalty apply to the total value of the fund, or just the amount that she paid into the fund? If the penalty is on the total value of the fund, it seems…

The New ISA Rules from 2026
Hello all! I have a question about the new ISA rules coming into effect 2026/27. I understand we will be limited to saving just £12,000 per year. What happens if you already have £40,000 in your ISA (from years of saving) and need to keep transferring it to a new ISA at the end of every fixed ISA period? Will we be allowed…

HMRC will stop cash-like investments in S&S ISAs
Updating this with the official note from HMRC https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/tax-free-savings-newsletter-19/tax-free-savings-newsletter-19-november-2025 I mentioned this on an ISA thread, but it's relevant to a lot of pensioners as well. According to the FT today, as part of the ISA changes, HMRC is going to…

Starter Savings Rate for higher rate tax
My father is a very cautious investor..his is retired, but has no income other than the interest payments from his savings (no pension, rental or dividend income). I have a question about the use of the starter savings rate in the fortunate situation where the annual income from his savings will be over the higher rate 40%…

Transfer Cash Lisa to S&S Lisa after 40.
Hi, My cash isa rate is pitiful, and I have completed my first time home purchase without using my cash LISA, therefore the lisa wont be touched for a fair few years at retirement. I am happy to let my lisa sit for a further couple of decades but obviously want more than the 3% or so the nottingham is giving me, what are…

Zopa mistake
I thought I'd let you forum people know, in case you didn't already, that Zopa have made a mistake and they have informed HMRC of people's ISA interest as though it was taxable interest. They have informed HMRC that they have made this error and HMRC have confirmed to them that they will correct the error on people tax…

New £12,000 limit on Cash ISA
Ok so in the future we will apparently limited on how much we can put in a Cash ISA. Apparently we will still be able to put a total of £20,000 in a ISa but £12,000 in a cash ISA and the rest I presume in a stocks and shares ISA. if that’s the case then how are we limited other than by the range of companies we can use.…

Transfers from S&S ISA to be scrapped
I read a daily mail article today saying our wonderful chancellor is cancelling the ability to transfer S&S ISA back to cash ISA’s, I appreciate this is to stop people putting in the additional £8k into the S&S ISA and transferring back, but what about old investments I have a lot of money currently In a S&S ISA, do I need…

Reeves' ISA review
Will be interesting to see what comes of this. Potentially restricting the amount of cash one can hold in an ISA or reducing the cash ISA allowance to just £4k. I think its important to try demystify some of the (often incorrect) concerns about investing, so that these potential change(s) actually encourage more people to…

Having more than one S&S ISA
I currently have two S&S ISA's with two different providers (Trading 212 and iWeb - majority of money is in iWeb). Is there any benefit to having more than one S&S ISA? I am thinking of consolidating my T212 into iWeb for ease. I don't mean in terms of fees paid etc, just the principle of having more than one S&S ISA.
