Family Railcard
I can't help feeling that the family railcard is a waste of money. In two situations, Birmingham to London and Birmingham to Edinburgh, I found that I could not get a discount on the cost of a rail ticket. Anyone else feel the same?

This occured whilst I was collecting goods(not shopping) from a business next to the bay.. the warden waited 3 mins and was loading my car on the back of the truck when I came out.. he would…

Caledonian Sleeper Train
I hope someone can answer my questions. If I book two tickets for a berth, and select the 'sharing' option, does that mean we will definitely be sharing together? I know it's online tickets only, so when could I expect to get my tickets to print out? I don't have a printer at home so would need to go the library to print…

Parking Fine - Is it worth appealing?
Parked on a road last night which is paid parking. At first I didn't realise it was paid parking at all, but thought all free parking was from 6pm anyway, so parked up and crossed over the road to go to college and admittedly, I did notice on the sign over the road that it was paid parking until 6.30pm. I should have ran…

Used car through main dealer - can I still get a PCP?
I am interested in possibly buying an approved used car from a main dealer, I was wondering whether or not when doing this you can still use their PCP finance deals or whether or not these are just for new cars? I know it seems like a silly question but I can't see anything that says either way.

Car Servicing - is this reasonable?
My MOT is due in 3 weeks. I've had my car over two years now, and it is about 10 years old so really could do with a service to keep it running well and nice and reliable. I've searched google to see how much a service is likely to be: Full Service + MOT = £232 Major Service + MOT = £282 (includes draining of brake fluids,…

Cheap, economical car with low insurance?
Hi, I'm looking for a new car for my mother. She currently has a toyota rav 4 which is pretty old and has 115k on the clock. She uses this daily and does a lot of miles for work each week, so the fuel is quite costly (high 20s to the gallon). We're looking for something small, cheap (sub £1500 mark preferably) and…

Train companies not allowing advance bookings online???!!
Hi all, For the last couple of days I've been trying to book advance tickets for a return train trip to Bournemouth leaving this Friday (26th) like I have on many occasions. No matter what train company I use online, it wont give me the option to book advance singles for the cheaper rate. I've tried a whole bunch of…

Car repairs in Wandsworth, SW London - any good ones?
I need to get my vauxhall Astra W reg (mark 4) repaired and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good Garage that do accident/body work repairs. If possibly could be an insurance job but there is a chance the third party may dispute this and so I may just go ahead and get it fixed myself without losing my no claims.…

Tyres - New or Part Worn
I have had a problem with tracking for a while, so much so i can even hear the rubber squeeking as it rolls unevenly against the road. I have finally convinced myself to get four new tyres since all more or less at nearing the limit. The problem is i have always got part worn and pay £15 a tyre fitted and balanced - the…

Well, not me, I'm helping the old man waste my inheritance... He wants to buy a new car. I've never bought a new car before so any help would be very much appreciated. I have been browsing…

Quick way to find a cheap train fare
www.farefinder.thetrainline.com/ I wasn't aware of this webpage and thought it might be useful to have as a bookmark. Limited stations unless you are travelling from London. I usually book through East Midlands as they do not charge a booking fee.

London Commuters - Travelcards, Oyster and fare increases
We all know that fares are due to raise for Travelcards at the start of January next year. For me, its about £200 cheaper to use Oyster Pay As You Go at the moment than get a Zones 1 to 4 Travelcard. This takes into account purely my journeys to and from work and takes into account the fact I get 5 weeks holiday a year.…
