Can I have different tyre sizes on front and back

Currently I have 205/50/16's, and have replaced the two fronts. can I put 205/55/16s on the rears, which will be due shortly, or will it impact on the stabiity of the vehicle?

Cheers

Mark
Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?

Yes but I would recommend the same profile.
BMW m3s usually have 225 on front and 250 on the rear as standard.

Yes, but you must wear a Burberry baseball cap to counteract the instability.

It would appear that, quite rightly, no one cares.

Yes you can. The difference in behaviour between a 55 and a 50 profile tyre is not going to exceed the difference between different brands of the same profile.

    cheers.

After doing a bit of searching on the web, I think I'll end up sticking with the same. Originally it was because I'm getting quotes for silly money, for tyres I don't particularly feel should be expensive, and yet the profile change makes others much cheaper.

Found some on blackcircles now, I think the other companies might have been taking the proverbial with their prices.

Plus you would need to inform your insurance company.
