Hi

I am booking train tickets but which is the best site to use, Raileasy, first great western - sooo many!!
Tickets on raileasy are £14 - but on 1st great western same journey £16.90?
How do they work this out?

And if i book tickets on line for 11.20 am train can I catch the 10am train instead? As the 11.20 has a change but the 10am doesn't but isn't avaliable to buy??

thanks
Cathy

The best site is the cheapest - but some sites charge for credit card payment and even charge when YOU go and collect the tickets. I find FGW or SWT meet my requirements, I pay on line and collect from the ticket machine on the station..

If you book on the 1120 you must travel on it - unless you have a fully flexible (ie: expensive) ticket. If you are on the "wrong" train you will be charged the full single fare.

There shouldn't be different prices on raileasy and 1st great western. It means there's a glitch in the system or you haven't gone through all the options.

If the ticket isn't available to buy on the 10am train it's not valid on that train regardless if what sort of ticket it is.

There must be many glitches, as I always check the prices on several train operators sites and find there are differences even though they use the same booking engine.

I find train operators sites are the best for information and price, and would not use other sites such as Trainline.
