    Hi student girl,
I joined the online bodyoptimise service but was bitterly disappointed with it. The only good thing is that they have an online syns calculator. Even that though, doesn't recognise a lot of things and takes ages to use. I was so disappointed that I asked for my money back and they switched me to the postal service, which I much prefer. I got an extra useful book with the postal service (free branded foods) and also get a year's subscription to the magazine. So I would recommend the postal one over the online one. If you don't want to join any, pm me your em ail address and I will send you electronic versions of the information you need.
    Good luck,
    hostie

  • :rotfl: What a brilliant thread :) Can I join in?

I joined SW in the mid-90s but only ever seemed to maintain; got so depressed in the end I threw all my books out and refused to go back.

Trouble is, it all now makes perfect sense!

So, I'm trying again on my own, got a Food Optimising book on Ebay, joined the gym and keep busy in the evenings (cos I know that's when I fall down even if I've been good all day).

I'm 5'5" and weigh 76kg (12 stone), seem to find it easier to weigh myself in kg than stone, despite my age (38), am well chuffed though because I've managed to drop 2kg (4lb-something) since I started at New Year. I made myself a chart and weigh myself faithfully every Monday morning, like to be able to watch the line heading south!

Been good all day, and we're just off to MIL's - following on the point about family efforts to sabotage your attempts to lose weight - where she serves up white bread roast beef sandwiches with slabs of butter in them. Bless her, she hasn't yet said anything but I can feel her looking askance at me as I peel the greasy mess off the beef and pass it to OH :rotfl:

There are always scones lagged in more butter, jam and thick Cornish clotted cream, swiss roll with buttercream in the middle instead of jam, boxes of biscuits, toffees, etc ... she's 82, thin as a lathe, and doesn't hold with all this healthy eating lark (having never in her life had to watch what she eats), so Sunday evenings would be a danger zone if I could stand all that sweet stodge!

It's chocolate and cheese that are my downfall, far too much of both around at Christmas!

Took me a week to read through all 46 pages

:hello: Welcome Soggymoggy:hello: It is a good tip to try and keep busy in the evenings. I think i will try that. The obvious tips always seem to be the best ones!

Poodlehorse I am sorry to hear about your travails with cappuccino and doughnuts in the morning. I can just imagine your frustration when you discovered you had another hour to wait for the shop to open.

Hopefully we will all have a good week this week. : ) and there will be a few angels appearing from people who have had good days. (Not me today though as we had a cake brought in).

  • Thanks for the welcome, Hostie - no angel for me today though, I gave in to a one-finger Twix and a Kit-Kat at MIL's :o

After I'd de-greased a load of lean chicken from the sandwiches too

Ah well, onwards and [strike]upwards[/strike] downwards

hi :hello: shed head and soggymoggy, first shedhead i didnt know doing shift work you didnt need to pay if you cant make sometimes i find it hard to get there before work , but as ive just rejoined i dont want to pay back fees , and i think the first four weeks are really count to pick up the healthy living plan (its not a diet its a way of life to keep you healthy and lose weight for life ) and i love it . I hope my tips have helped , 1) they are go through your food and sticker the syns on the item (red/ green days)so when you pick it up you can put it down straight on your food diary . 2)carry a little note book in your bag and write down what you eat , so when you get home you can write it down and not forget anything. 3 )buy a food directory and mark with a high lighter the low sin meals and the things you like as treats in the shop you shop at , so you can make a list and buy them to put in freezer and when your in a hurry you can have them and you know what syns they are .4) always wear the same clothes to get weaighed in (never jeans as they are about 2lb ) hope this helps

hi just incase your stuck for a lunch or dinner idear , im having today , chicken breast make a slit in it, put in a laughing cow cheese triangle and then wrap a bacon slice around it and cook in oven , add a salad a jacket and you can then decide what day your on later as both the chicken or the jacket can be a B CHOICE :j :j :j make a few and try putting low fat sausage in place of the cheese in the slit , fab. But if putting sausage in its 1 syn for asdas low fat and that on a original day only
  • Morning lovlies, just to let you know I am still here!

Been so busy - as soon as the sun comes out I have this need to get things in order - we've been busy planting up the garden and spring cleaning the house. My fella also had all of last week off work with a bad back so unfortunately I was quite lazy with him. He also bought 4 packets of biscuits, chocolate & crisps last week so we had to have a lil chat... I told him I needed his support - if they are in the house I will eat them.

I think (hope) it sunk in this time...

I have also weaned myself off the teaspoon of golden syrup in plain yogurt which is a positive. I can't believe I need to go shopping again today - its begining to feel like thats all i do! But i have no free nibbles left in the house..

BTW - what free nibbles do you keep in? Mine are yogurt, grapes, oranges, crabsticks (red) and cherry tomatoes in the summer (home grown as shop bought ones have no taste at all & are only good for cooking)

AND.... what meal are you all planning for valentines day?

Have a good one & good luck all getting weighed tonight (ie - ME!)

I am looking for a few opinions on something and wonder if anyone would mind!!!

I have been so good following SW...really havent used up many syns unless its been in my cooking and have tried to change to way I view food and what I eat. Now, I have a few things in my fridge which im basically allowed on SW. eg. WW mouse ( 5 syns ), reduced fat crisps etc ( tho not in my fridge!!!)

I was hungry last night and didnt know what to eat. In the end I had a peice of fruit. I dont want to deprive myself completely but if I continue to eat food such as crisps, mouse etc...all be it reduced fat ones Im not going to change my eating habits and tastes. Im not a great lover of fruit and wonder if eating it more and more will my tastes change and will I then want fruit etc and veer away from the other types of food or should I just have the others as a treat and have done with it?

Not sure if ive explained myself well enough but dont want to lose weight and then have the same tastes and put it all back on again!!
