have the crisps and the mousses, maybe one a day. sw works so well as you don't have to deprive yourself completely, and your syns make the whole journey a lot lot easier, for me its a magic elf every night, to get my choclate fix, personally i think there's more to life tham depriving yourself of everything. the syns are there for this reason, and my consulatant swears people who don't use there syn allowance fall off the wagon (so to speak) quicker or more often than those who treat themselves. also remember they wouldn't give you syns if you couldn't eat them and still lose weight. can you really imagine never eating a crisp etc again for life?

as for the not being a big fruit eater, neither am I, i've just munched my way through an apple and not sure I'll ever get used to eating them, lol, but know I need to add some variety to my diet, otherwise fruitwise I'd live on bananas and grapes, and veg wise broccoli and sweetworn. so if anyone has any tips on eating more fruit and veg without getting fed up, i'd love to hear them

If you are not a great lover of fruit, just eating it for the sake of being on a 'diet' just makes you resent it and like you say, go back the way you were before and gain weight again. Maybe try different ways with fruit, like making a fruit salad. Or if you love chocolate, syn it, melt it and dip strawberries and other fruit in it. Mix some berries with low fat yoghurt, try exotic fruits like Mango, pineapple, starfruit etc.

I would say still have what you fancy and I think your tastes do change, because people who change from full milk/sugar in their tea and coffee to skimmed and no sugar, say that when they taste the full milk and sugar again they hate it, you get used to it.

I made a fresh start again today. Not going to weigh myself this week. It is green day today, so had beans and eggs and Scanbran (HE b) for breakfast and am having a baked potato or rice salad for lunch today..

    Have a great week everyone!!
  • Angela,
I would say that if you fancy the crisps or the mousse, then have them. They are allowed and I find it really important not to feel deprived (or I rebel and all hell breaks loose!). Don't eat them for the sake of it, but if you really feel like one of them then have it, within your syns limit.
Probably over time your tastes will change and you may enjoy fruit more. Also, as the seasons change, different fruits are in season and you may find certain times of year when you just love the available fruit!.

I agree with everything you have all said but I really do want to change to way I eat forever and not find I put it all on again as has happened before!!!

I will maybe have a little treat but not every day....?? and I am enjoying the fruit more than I used to so maybe they do change??

  • Morning all - weighed myself first thing, I was 77kg last Monday, today I'm 75.8 - that's a milestone for me, because I've gone from just over 12 stone to just under - a loss of not quite 2 1/2 lb in a week:)

I had a prune smoothie for breakfast; tiny tin of prunes in juice (HEB, though I don't know where they get the weight given - it says 142g including juice in my book, I bought the smallest-sized tin I could get in Tesco and it's still 213g including juice, so I've just used part of it).

Anyway, tiny tin of prunes, de-stoned them (lovely messy job, too tight to buy ready-stoned), 200ml milk (part of HEA, rest will go in cuppas) and 4 tbsp v.low fat yoghurt, whizzed up in a jug with the stick blender thingy. Fills a pint glass perfectly, and my tum for HOURS!

Slurped that at 9.00 a.m, still not hungry now at gone 11.30

Sun's out so I'm feeling good - job interview tomorrow, wish me luck?

    :hello: Hi,

Back after a weekend away at OH's dads house. Bit a bit hit and miss as I couldn;t really choose too much hat I ate, but think it shouldn't have been too bad. Off to weigh-in tomorrow on my own again as OH has band practice.

Had my HEB cereal this morning (weighed as I'd become slack!) with HEA milk and a banana.
Drunk Diet coke at work and has a Mug SHot pasta snack already.
Got Jacket pot and LF Cottage Cheese for lunch with mullerlight, banana. Other fruit if I fancy it and more Diet Coke!
Macaroni cheese tonight for dins (might put a bit of veg with it too!

Feel like I'm back on track (pretty much!) :j Want to lose at least 2 stone by the end of April! I know I can do it as I've done it before but this might be tough! Then again I've got a general anaesthetic next week to have two teeth out so I may be on soups/liquids for a while!

    Catt xx

aren't fruits synned if you puree them? or when you cook them? not sure if this applies to healty extras, but i'm sure it says something like that free food section of the book? i know you can't mash up a healthy extra b jacket potato on a red day. does anyone know? cos i'd have that whizzed up smoothie if you can, sounds yum.

  • Well I am on my second week and get weighed Wednesday. I stayed the same the first week but lost in inches. Normal for me and so long as I feel better in myself I don't need a couple of digits on a scale to boost my self confidence.

Peachyest is my sis and we went shopping on Saturday so Sunday I woke up to a cupboard full of delights. I spent the rest of the day marking up the syn value and seperating the Green and Red items.
